Today daz studio has added that they will be offering their
4ever modeling suit for free until Feb. The 29th. This includes dad studio pro
Edition, Bryce 7 and hexagon. If you read my other thread about me making a character
 From daz you would know that the poly count they produce are
A little on the high side. Hexagon is just a 4ever modeling program which I
Rather stay with anomie. But Bryce 7 is a landscape program that may be useful
Since I haven't been able to use terranim8or on windows 7

Ok I have a problem. I have been a big supporter of makehuman for awhile now to help me create background characters for some animations i have been working on. But I resently discovered Daz studio. well I heard about it before but the new one they have is more user friendly then when I tried it a few years ago. So seeing that daz is more developed than makehuman as far as having clothes and can export a rigged character with no problems I thought I would use it. Then I found all of these creature creator packs like I was looking for when I first got into 3d modeling ( i was looking for a way to make characters without having to actually spend the time to model them back in the day, but all of the software that I found did not produce any models that even closely look like my concept art let along look good. It looked ok for a cartoon.)

 But anyway, I am now use to making all of my characters myself now, so i played with daz studio and I made a good looking character that is really close to my concept drawings. I was going to ask was it considered cheating if I used this instead of modeling the character myself. Then I exported the character from daz to anim8or to see how it was modeled to get some tips on making my own models and this thing had waaaaayyyyy to many polys for my taste. just the body alone had over 75,000 polys not including clothing and accessories. My computer can handle all of that but i like to try to keep my render time as low as possible without losing quality. I decided to use the daz model as a guide and remodeled him in anim8or. So Im still wondering if I should keep the remodeled version or the daz version, or are they both considered cheating and I should just model the one I intended to do from my drawing.

I have done alot of modeling since I picked up anim8or but not alot of animating. Wierd I know. So I just finished my first short movie titled "Who Am I?"

Hello all. I haven't posted here in awhile but I am looking to start my next poject by modeling and animating dragonball z characters. But my problem is finding good modeling reference images. I know that I will have to draw these reference images but does anyone know where i can get some good reference images?

ASL Scripts / city generator script?

After going back and foward with anim8or and maya for a bit. I ran into a script in maya that can generate buildings and even make either a low poly or a high res city block. I was wondering if it would be posible to make a city generator for anim8or. This one plug in for maya you different moduales and swap them out to make custom buildings. I remember sometimes last year ppl were complaning about this site called illusion mage because it rebranded Anim8or and Blender to its own software and was selling it. Well They just put our this marketing video that I have been seeing all over the internet. It looks like he took anim8or out of the produce because I don't see any screen shoots of anim8or on there any more but blender art work is all in there. Here is a link for you to see.

I haven't posted anything here in awhile so I thought i would post what I have been working on. I will be re attempting to build a new city, but this time i will model each block scene by scene. So imstarting with a shopping mall. I also threw in a character i made and tried to make it look like he is destroying the ground in front of him.

General Anim8or Forum / tips on modeling a pocket?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to model pockets on a jacket and pants. The problem i'm having is that in anim8or each vertex can only have two faces so if I extrude some faces to make a pocket there is a hole inside the pocket from where i extruded and i can't fill that hole because all of the vertex's have two faces at this point.

 I also thought about modeling the pockets seperadly and attaching the pockets onto the model but i know when i sub divide the model there will be holes in the model where there are vertex's with more than two faces. The only solution that i have found so far is to use the shell tool on the model to add deep to the entire thing and add the pockets where they are needed. This will work but I don't want to deal with all of the unnessary polies threw the entire model when all i need is extra polies around the pockets.

does any one konw what else i can do?

Hello all. I haven't posted anuthing here in awhile so I thought that I would post my progress of a character that I am working on from start to finish. I am trying to model this character with a new techneque that I have never used before. I usually start with a primitive and work from that, but this time I am doing point by point modeling and trying to keep the edge loops in mind. I usually have a problem with the eye lids nose and mouth when I model, but this time I am going to try to model them a little bit more acurate. I also tried rendering this model with Ambient Occluder which I never used before.

The name of this model is The Tornado aka Professor John Tornado. He is going to be a super villian.

 This is a new character that Im trying to model. It's a spanish bull and a humanoid version of the same bull. But Im not that good at modeling animals. So far I just have his head.
