General Anim8or Forum / Faux Motion Blur technique
« on: December 31, 2010, 09:10:24 pm »
I've been thinking about a possible faux motion blur technique for a while now. I finally got the time to test it out. I posted my first test video on youtube. youtube.com/watch?v=AlHXDT4ke-Q[/youtube]]http://www.
I am posting the full an8 and texture files. I hope someone out there can use my technique. I also hope that this technique can be an inspiration for further techniques.

If anyone has questions about what I have done, all you have to do is ask. My goal is to help the Anim8or community.

Edit: I will continue to try and improve my technique and post any updates here.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Mongolian Gutter Ball
« on: June 28, 2010, 10:36:05 am »
Hey folks. Bit of a story for ya. My sister is in the Great Dark Horde (Mongolians) in the SCA. Her and a few of her Horde buddies decided to get together and make a bowling league. They named themselves the Mongolian Gutter Ball. My sister asked me if I could make some sort of 3D graphic so they could print them out and iron them on the backs of shirts. I wasn't really given any specifics, and almost infinite freedom on this project. My idea was a bowling ball with the GDH symbol on it, in the gutter in a bowling lane. After some thought, I realized the most Mongolian response of a gutter ball would be a flight of arrows.

I am now done with this project, and will not be revising it. All the same, I appreciate any C&C, as I can use lessons learned in future projects. Thanks in advance.

General Anim8or Forum / Need help on a busted file
« on: October 24, 2009, 07:17:01 pm »
Got a project I'm doing for a friend. Unfortunately, it got corrupted. I've tried finding the error, but I don't know enough about the language used by Anim8or. Could anyone please check this file for anything screwy? Her final project is due Friday, so time is of the essence.

Amazing and mind blowing fractals in 2d, 3d, 4d+; hyperforms; 4d+ Platonic Solids and Archimedean Solids. If you have no idea of what I'm talking about than you need to see it with your own eyes.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / TGM - SSDD web comic
« on: September 10, 2009, 12:07:22 am »
I have been kinda asked, kinda volunteered, to make a project for a web comic called S.S.D.D, but I'm a bit... crestfallen? I was asked to make the "TGM". It's a black whole drive of a ship. The ref art are the following: WARNING: some foul language

I created this video and sent the artist a copy.
He says it seems "Pretty cool for a rough." I thought I was done. Does anyone have any idea what more I could do?

General Anim8or Forum / Gold Material
« on: September 01, 2009, 07:41:59 pm »
I'm in a bit of a bind. Does anyone know a realistic material setting for gold in ART? I've tried the "material database" but that one is not what I'm looking for.

« on: August 23, 2009, 05:25:04 pm »
I read an online comic called Sluggy Freelance. On Saturday (22nd) they featured a logo that got me going. The original art is http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/20090822 and http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/20090821 (on the shoulder on the REA-5)

I posted my vid on you tube:

C&C is appreciated as always.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Slight tweek
« on: May 03, 2009, 10:23:33 pm »
I was wondering if it would be possible to expand the "render from ___ to ___" function. Could you make it expandable? Something like " render from ___ to ___ more? X from ___ to ___"? I render in jpg format, and I save time by copying identical frames after they render. It's a bit of a pain to do "from ___ to ___", letting it complete, then doing a new "from ___ to ___".

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Xmas present.
« on: December 07, 2008, 06:00:32 pm »
I made this for the creator of an online comic strip I read religiously. I won't bother trying to explain everything to ya (way too much to tell)

As the character and ship and symbol are all his work, please do not use this picture.

C&C appreciated.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Sequence requests
« on: December 01, 2008, 01:27:00 am »
Just a few (hopefully small) requests for sequence mode.

Be able to use graph edit in sequence mode. Including adjusting the handlebars.

Use of morph targets.

That's it. I hope it's not too much work. I truly appreciate all the work you have put into Anim8or. It's a great program.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Weapon WIPs

Working on a project where a couple of characters will be in a sword fight. One of them will be using a katana, the other will use a "high sword low axe" style (longsword/francis axe combo) Once I make the axe I will post it too. I don't plan on getting a real close-up of either one, so I don't need great detail.

I used to do a lot of animating. Trying to get back into the swing of things. Any C&C would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at this render of the longsword, I think I'll name it "Angel of Death".
