Made and rendered in anim8or, post-production in Photoshop.
I've attached a render of the gifts in the background as well.

Last Update

Introducing.. the Bunny & Squirrel Garden Adventure!

Together, Raxx and I will create the characters, environment and animation.

More information on the story is yet to come. Just because we don't know yet either!  ;D

The idea came about because we want to try out Raxx' PHUR plugin.

I'll be making the Bunny, Raxx the Squirrel. I'll kick it off here with a WIP on the bunny without fur. Because the fur will cover him up I'm not too worried about the small details on the body and the feet.

General Anim8or Forum / HQ icon
« on: March 05, 2013, 11:29:59 am »
Hey all,

I'm not sure if this has been done before - either way I'm posting it for others to use.

Since the icons in Windows are getting bigger, the Anim8or icon looks very pixelated on the desktop or windows 8 start screen.

I made a vector version of the logo to use as a custom icon. I had to interpret a bit since the small version does not have many details.

old + new version (win8 tiles):

I included an adobe illustrator file for others to use - I probably missed some things (like te black line left of the foot, what is that?) so Please download it and improve it!

I hope itll be useful for some people - especially to keep the win8 start screen a bit pretty.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Retro seats
« on: February 11, 2012, 04:45:44 am »
Hey guys, it's been a while since I posted a personal project on here..
Every once in a while I would feel like making something small in Anim8or, so I started a series of retro seats (designs from google) mostly modeled and all rendered in Anim8or. Hope you like it!

Some minor touch-ups made in Photoshop (mostly color corrections)

Latest Update:

Hey Guys! Long time since I posted a project.. here is the reason why;

I've been modeling an Audi TT, my favorite road car. I'm usually not a big fan of modeling cars in 3d, but I wanted to try to push anim8or to the limit with a model/render, and thought a car would be the way to go with the features available in anim8or at this moment in time.

I'll start off by posting the final image.
It doesnt have fresnel reflections since the car paint come straight out of anim8or.

Here is a clay render

Rendered in Art in about 10 different renders, layered together in photoshop.

I've combined the layers in such a way in photoshop that I can change the color of the car quite easily, with a solid color or a combination of colors, like this yellow and orange paint job:
This has a fresnel reflection

Here are a few shots of the model inside anim8or:

For who is interested, I kept track of all the render times, it totaled at almost 100 hours.

I'm thinking about making a little video about the model, I can't make it in full color/shading of course, with 100 hours/frame. I'll have to figure something out if i want to do that..

Any comments are welcome! Hope you enjoy it.

General Anim8or Forum / Missing Shadow
« on: September 13, 2009, 06:20:19 pm »
Hey all,

I have a little issue with the shadows in my latest project I started today.

As you can see in the image, there are no shadows under the curved mesh, everything else is casting/receiving shadows properly.

Everything is one object, so I don't see why it would treat one mesh differently from another.

I will attach the file as well.

Something I made yesterday, modeled & rendered in anim8or of course.

the modeling took about 4 hours, but rendering was easily 5 times that haha!

Composition of several passes in Photoshop.

Let me know if you like it. I kindof feel like doing a bit more with it than just the plain image, so if you know something that would look good, dont hesitate !

General Anim8or Forum / AO Thread
« on: March 30, 2009, 08:29:59 am »
Hey all,

I would like people to share their ideas and experiences with getting Ambient Occlusion effects in Anim8or.

In the attachment you will see a picture of an AO pass i rendered out to use with a Museum scene i made. As you can see some areas look a bit weird, for example:

- The corners of the room are white, where you expect them to be darker (faces closer to each other = less light)
- Some other parts show up as over bright
- The ceiling is way darker than the floor

This last point is very probably because the hole in the ceiling lets the light in the scene.. though I would like to get a more even effect.

The settings i used are:

Everything has the following material:
  Ambient : 1
  Diffuse: 0
  Specular : 0
AmbientOccluder attribute on in Scene editor, no other lights.
There are holes in the ceiling to let the light of the environment in.

Maybe someone has a different way of achieving maybe a more accurate AO pass render?
Or you would like to share something else about it.. go ahead!

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Bug: lost assigned materials
« on: March 18, 2009, 10:54:51 am »
Sometimes when i copy meshes and move them from one 'object' to another, the materials of a Group in the scene gets lost.

Elaboration:
My locomotive file is getting big, and i have a lot of different meshes that i group together to keep it manageable. Within a group meshes can have different materials assigned. Sometimes when i copy a few groups/a signle group, or just objects from one 'object' to another, a group loses its materials, not all groups that i move, just one group. It also doenst have to be a group that i moved, it can also be a group that is in the object that i move something to. And it also doesnt happen every time. (< as you can see, it is hard for me to recreate the bug, but it has happened several times now.)
The materials that were assigned to the different meshes in this group get lost and the whole group takes on the -default- material. (see image:)

After this i am forced to ungroup the group and reassign all the materials to the different meshes.

Maybe other people have had similar experiences?

Oh; in the different 'objects' i can have a lot of meshes simultaniously, so sometimes there are over 75000 polies in one 'object', maybe thats what causing it to do this?

tnx for reading

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Rerender: Headphones
« on: March 08, 2009, 04:41:03 am »
You all have probably seen this piece before, I made it a long time ago for a challenge on CG-Nation.
Yesterday I felt like rerendering it with some new anim8or settings. Rendering took a while , 12 hours for the regular pass, but this morning it was done ;)

I composited the regular render in photoshop with:
- AO render (for fake GI)
- Z-Depth channel (for focal blur & radial fog)
- clay render (to define the shadows better)

So here it is haha:

for comparison, a Vray render I made of it back then:

General Anim8or Forum / Can't get Light attributes to work
« on: March 05, 2009, 09:50:26 am »
I feel pretty dumb for asking this here haha.. but i really would like to figure this out. I downloaded the example 'bucky ball' file that has both a regular and a multijittered shadow light in it. It render out fine.

Then I tried to remake the scene myself, and whatever I did, I always got the default (multijittered) result.
I tried adding a new light in the bucky ball file, and adding a "sampler" attribute with a "regular" string. No luck. It would show up as a multijittered light.

I must be overlooking some Very obvious. If someone could help me out it would be awesome ^^

Latest update!!!                                               Latest update!!!                                               Latest update!!!

Here is a first update, its a lamp that is going to come on front of the locomotive, as you can see I am going to try to subdivision-model everything, as long as anim8or will handle it.
Its a shame that anim8or doesnt want to show the bumpmap correctly, but im sure it wont be too visible in a final render.

Introduction
Hello all.. I am starting a new WIP here. It will be a fully detailed model of a locomotive. In this project I will go for high detail, but not for realism, just awesomeness ^,^ It will probably take me a while to model everything so stay tuned for updates!
