Finished Works and Works in Progress / Hello there!
« on: January 11, 2024, 03:13:30 pm »
So glad to see that Anim8or is alive and well!

I haven’t done any 3D work in at least ten years, but I lucked out and found an old flash drive in a junk drawer with some of my old files on it.

Here’s a new render of my old Millennium Falcon model.

Hello again Anim8or community.  It's been awhile since I posted here.

Back in the distant swirling mists of time (The 80's) there existed a tabletop roleplaying game by a company called FASA.  Star Trek: The Roleplaying Game and Star Trek: Starship Combat Simulator covered gameplay on the ground or in space in the Star Trek universe.

ST:SCS was quite good, and supplemental manuals such as the Federation Ship Recognition Guide listed specifications for both "canon" ships and originals created by FASA.  "Flavor Text" was provided for all ships, and it made for an interesting read.

At the time, there was also a magazine called Stardate which primarily dealt with the FASA game in much the same way that Dragon Magazine covered Dungeons & Dragons.  There was a section called "Jaynz Ships of the Galaxy" in each magazine where they would detail a new ship class which could be used with the game.

The one that caught my eye in those days was a design by Josh W. Spencer, the Indomitable-class battleship.

Here's the original blueprint:

As you can see, it's a "kitbash".  Looks like an Excelsior Saucer slapped onto an elongated Enterprise secondary hull with Enterprise warp nacelles.

I'd like to also credit Bernd Schneider and his Ex Astris Scientia (www.ex-astris-scientia.org) website for the awesome ship database contained therein, and a contributor to that site named GUS for his awesome Excelsior reference images.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Enterprise Refit (WIP)

Enterprise, Refit Version (From The Motion Picture and onwards).

Going high-poly on this one, like with the Original Series model.  Started with the warp nacelles, as I estimate they are going to be the hardest part.

The texture is just a carry-over from the other Enterprise model so far.

(Sorry for cluttering up the boards with all these Star Trek threads, I didn't anticipate doing all these ships right in a row when I built the original series model)

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Star Trek TOS Low-Poly Set
« on: April 25, 2008, 11:30:13 am »
This was originally just going to be a low-poly version of the Enterprise I was going to throw into my NCC-1701 thread, but it's turned into a full-blown project for me.  I think I am going to attempt to mod a game with these.

These all go about 2,000 polys or less.

These ships, aside from the Enterprise and the Klingon D-7 are not strictly "canon", in other words, they've never been officially recognized by Paramount as Star Trek ships.  They've all appeared in various games, however.

Clockwise from top left are the "Saladin" class, the "Loknar" class, the "Constitution" class (Enterprise), a pre-refit version of the "Miranda" (Reliant), and at center, a Klingon D-7.
