« on: November 30, 2008, 12:15:59 pm »
head on over to CG Nation to see a small tutorial i made on box modeling a human head.

it is meant for beginner/intermediate modelers as it is not very descriptive.

hi, can someone who runs a windows computer take a print screen of the anim8or robin icon.

preferably against a white background.

it's because i run linux, and to have an icon you need to add your own.

General Anim8or Forum / A few serious suggestions.
« on: September 18, 2008, 04:41:51 pm »
first of all I'd just like to say that i think anim8or is pretty good for a free 3d tool, i've used many different applications and have become fairly good with them, yet i still resort back to anim8or when it comes to modeling.

And that is what i think you should focus on steve, the modeling aspect. e.g

soft select

ability to bevel points not just faces and edges

real time modifiers - e.g mirroring so one side is always being updated

the modifiers we have already (bend, twist etc) make easier to use and the ability to use 2 at the same time.

now even more important than that is anim8or as an entity and what non anim8ors think of it. anim8or is amazing and what i use primarily for my 3d design, but a lot of people are turned off by its splash-screen, which isn't ugly, just doesn't show the capabilities of anim8or properly. also the colour scheme and the buttons aren't particularly attractive, nor is the website and the images shown on the site.

anim8or needs to move forward with the times to continue to attract people new to the world of 3d graphics, and not turn away and use a highly complicated program like blender (blender is actually very good, and i find myself using it far more often than i used to, but i still prefer modeling in anim8or) which can be confusing for first timers, which can ultimately stray them away from 3d design completely.

i realize a lot of the modeling things i have said have been suggested many times before, but a man can hope can he not?

concentrate mostly what i said about the interface and appearance of anim8or.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / [suggestion] changing bones colour
« on: August 17, 2008, 02:38:18 pm »
it would be nice if we could change the colour of bones - it can be hard to weight paint accurately when 2 bones the same colour are next to each other.

there is only one thing in anim8or that really annoys me, that fact that you can't rotate from the center of the selection.

in blender whenever you rotate it does this, and it makes things so much easier.

General Anim8or Forum / anim8or under WINE (ubuntu)
« on: June 01, 2008, 08:06:17 am »
I have recently installed Ubuntu, it is great apart from the fact that i have yet to get anim8or to run with Wine.

when i right click anim8or and click "open with WINE" nothing happens. Something appears to load for a short while. but then nothing else opens.

is there something i am doing wrong?
do i need to configure something first?

I am using the latest version of Ubuntu and the latest version of WINE and v0.95 of anim8or.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / ART and textures

objects with ART syntax don't allow you to add materials. Is this on purpose, or is it something else?
