How is the latest challenge going? I have no time right now to try ASL. My two suggestions are, however:
1) make a video game scene
2) make a 2d animation in Anim8or!

I admit that i stop working in mine for some time now, because of change in my computer, and the next step will probably take a lot of time...[

Ok, getting somewhere now, don't know exactly on where, but definitivily somewhere :P

I'm having some problems with the use of scale_x, and scale_y, and the subvision error persist, but at least you can change the color now, which is nice.

Hi justiceiro,
i know you are still working on the claw and may be aware but have noticed it crashes anim8or when attempting a subdivision.

Heh, sorry, another know bug. You see, i put on the shape some loose points, so, if  you convert to a mesh and go on edit mode, you can see the points floating around that are probably cauing the errors. You can delete then, for now, and try to subdivide again.

justiceiro: Just a heads up I get a syntax error at line 25

fails to load in version 0.98 but operates in build 1146 revision.

Dunno about the spanish I`ll have to look up raio (radius?) comprimento and espessura!!
Same thing with me about the syntax errors. In the 0.98, ASL didn't have main() functions, so i stoped bother about it and just made a script that worked in the lastest version, since that was the one used on the tutorial about parametric shapes. Actually, it seems to me that no funciontons where supported this taht version, and really hard to make a good code without at least functions.

And, no, its not spanish, but Brazzilian portuguese(also know as - huehuehue BR). Some glossary to help you out on the understandment:
raio = radius
comprimento = length
espessura = thickness
garra = claw
passo = step

the rest problably mean what looks like(divisoes=divisions,pontos=points,indices=indexes, etc)

The idea is to use arc froma circle to make the claww oriented by that, but for do this, i'm still working on matrix transforms. Pls don't close the constest just yet, i'm still working on it, thanks.

Well, after some strugle, i managed to get the basic idea working. The script alreadly make a path for the object to follow, and i can even put a straitgh model of the claw. I'm now interested in using the float4x4 to make the claw bend, but this kind of operation will probably be quite hard.  :-X ::)

Just made a translation for Brazilian Portuguese, but have no idea what "Redraw text" means or do. Someone can give me a hint?

Anyway, here's what i have done so far.

Was considering making a claw script, but i have no prior experience with the asl tools. The asl editor from 2009 is still the best option?

Thanks.

I learned while using another 3D modeling program that the best way to create things like robots and assure that everything will fit is using  the "connections" from the main body as a base for the other parts.
In anim8or, if you make a robot arm as a objetc and starting editing, there is no way to see how they will look like in the final body without changing for the figure/scene/sequence view. In the same way, you can do no litle adjusment on objects without changing to the object mode.

My suggestion is to have a option to enter in the object mode without losing sigth of everything in the figure/scene view. Of course only the object selected would be the one editable, but even a simple wireframe for the others object in a gray tone would help to don't lose the sigth of the bigger picture. Of course, this feature would be optional. I suggest you could select the object on the figure and then activate this as a "Object submode".

Other suggestion i'm not so sure about, but i remenbering having some issues with UV textures, since i could not even see the actual texture while rotating that yellow square. If i could only see the actual texture in that square(with some low level of oppacity of course) would be much easier to adjust the position of everything, i think. the bigger problem for me is having to adjust ligths and do a render before seeing how the textures would look like.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Re: New Year, can we excpect some news?

Hey, i'm not just here waiting, i have moved on, but is like that cartoon that you liked in childhood that never geted a proper end, just canceled. You will never accept the reason that why they just not, at least, put some closure to it. I almost sense that the anim8or was doomed when the anim8or.com gets off air some years back, but now thats up, its impossbile to not question: Are going somewhere further? If yes, in what direction?

I'm not here to say: "hey, what are doin'? time to get that update, don't you think". I'm here to say "whatever can i do, whatever that is needed to get more of this, i want to put effort in this, just point me the direction". I'm not here to bash anyone (atoulgh there is a lot of not very helpful people just waiting to do that), or to demand anything, im just sayng that aways will be someone just waiting to help, someone that will support in the means he can.

I have some unfinished projects myself, but time in times i stop and try to think "yesterday i could not put any effort on this, but today can i? I really can't do anything? nothing at all?" It's really difficult to another time take a look in something that neither i, the creator, barely remenber. And sometimes i fear that people dont will like any changes that i will do, but i have a worst fear. The fear of stop trying. The fear of being controlled by fear of the unknown.

Steve, if you're readind this, i just want you to know that we trust you, we believe in you, and even today, we are still here, giving the support that the community can give to the community. The path that you decide to give to this software, we will still be here, just waiting to follow it(and for you to tell us).
