I am making a cartoony type movie that looks like it was drawn an a chalk board.
Black BG with white as the characters.
It's just an experiment. But I was wondering if I could set the value of the shadows as a negative.

(white shadows)

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / 0.97 doesn't work for me

Every render I have attempted using ART looks either really bad or doesn't show up.
In both cases it generally takes a LONG time for the render to happen.

WinXP pro
NIVIDIA XP4000 video card
1GB ram

I have been loading models made in previous versions that looked good when rendered, but in ART the look either really bad or renders a blank white screen.

Recently upgraded to 0.97b and same result.

 :(

The sigs you made are really good. I like the updated versions.

BUT, I must add that Paulo's Anim8or sig is better.

I would like to see the ability to render a portion of an image for debug purposes.

example:

I have a very detailed model and a complex light setup. There is a portion of the model I am working on and would like to see how that part will look rendered but I have to render the entire image to see the result. Its not critical of course, but would be kinda nice to just highlight an area and render it.

Wow. I hadn't noticed those 5-sides.
Guess I need to look at some more examples to learn to fix that.

I was thinking of modeling all of me in a baseball pose. Doing it in bronze and giving myself a 'Hall of Fame' trophy.  ;D :D ;) .....  ::)

I don't know if I'm quite good enough to post on CG-Talk just yet....
Most of the stuff on there is SOOOOOO good.

I think I'll graduate to Animanon first, but thanks for the vote of confidence.

Instead of subdividing use 'Convert to Subdivide' It produces the same result with less polygons. Also it requires less vertices to keep track of. This reduces the load on your computer and on your eyes. I would look up modelling a face or body on YouTube (doesn't matter what tool they use) and see how they go about it.

Edge loops use the Edge Extraction tool. Select the faces (lines) you want to expand then you can build larger areas of your model faster and more accurately.

I really need to look at some other models myself to get this concept down pat.  ::)

Good Luck - Looking good for a start though  :)

Thanks for the info about the perspective view. I was wondering how to get around that. I modified the model just sort of guessing and it looks (better) than it did.
I was wondering why people I showed it to didn't recognize me.

(it was sort of embarrasing)  ::)  :-\

But that's how we learn...  ;)

I didn't know CG-nation was down. It's down often due to overcrowding.

I don't know, I like the textures all around. Good Job.
I like the color scheme. It's ascetically pleasing. I would add a power chord. Wrap it around in a sort of circle to tie the image together and draw the eyes of the view into the image.

Great Job!

I don't see you doing 55 minutes in a month. (but) If you work hard and do a quality job then the 5-10 minutes you can do will probably be enough to warrant a good grade. I would pay attention to detail and try to add in certain comical 'quirks' that would occur based on the fact that they living in a Lego based environment.

Then regardless of your grade, finish the movie on your own time, post school project.

Top notch work here!

I have to say the models kinda scare me. The blank happy stares are less like heroes and more like evil dolls one might find on a child’s dresser in a bad horror movie.

Technically they are good models, and well animated, just kinda scary.

I like the capes flowing in the wind.

I would like to see how you used Teranimator to make the water. I haven’t had much luck with the fire plug in.

I doubt if I could make you anything new, but i have a few models lying around from former projects I could probably spare.

Are you using An8 for the in game models or are you pre-rendering sprites?

Actual in game models I would suggest using Milkshape or Blender. They are both designed for game models and can export native formats. .x , .mdl , etc...

I am pretty good at making sprites. Top down view, isometric, and side view.

What do you need?

I know about the chubbiness  :D ;)
The features do seem a bit etched in stone.
I've been working out recently so hey, maybe I'll leave it how it is and I'll grow into it.  ;D

I hate doing noses and ears. Its an area I need to concentrate on exclusively for a bit.

The texture map was just sort of, let's see how this looks, but I probably won't use the real images for the final model, but instead opt for texture I make. Or I may leave it as a statue.

Thanks for the crits. I don't see any 5 sided polys, but I know there are a few 3 sideds in there so I need to work on those.

Self explanatory.
Since learning to use the edge extrusion I suddenly learned to do faces rather quickly and accurately.

I decided to try a bust of myself.

I also included a rotational video.
