Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Re: Faster Renderer!!
« on: April 15, 2008, 11:15:31 am »
I'm running a 2,4ghz quad core right now and the render is still pretty slow. I heard that anim8or only supports one core. Is there a way to use the other cores as well, or do i just have to wait until a new version that does.

I might have to turn off the 'receive' check button from the robot. This way it doesn't receives shadows.

I have a problem working with grassgen. When i run a .ini file like the demo file it says: "Path not found in module GG1V20 at address 0DC1:00CD". Is there a way to fix this. I already tried running it in compatibility mode but same error.

I believe glossy works in combination with the rough value of the material, which is standard 32. Having a glossy effect with rough at 32 will cost alot of memory. I suggust setting the rough to something like 200 or higher, i believe it goes up to 1000. That might solve the problem.

I usually work with Prism video converter. A pretty basic program, which works fine to me. Very simple to use and reduces size.

That's awesome, makes me remind of all those 3ds tutorials. The level of detail is just stunning. Keep on going, it had like to see it finished.

I think an inbuild kind of grassgen in anim8or would be nice. Grassgen is wonderfull software, but is hard to handle and doesn't always work as good. It would be nice to have a feature like grassgen in anim8or which is easier to handle. Such a feature would be very helpfull to make things like hair and forests.

Ye, I got this problem so often. It would be helpfull to have a sort of reload button.

The volume shadows have never worked very good i believe. You should use soft shadows.
You said you used a lot of models: does all of these models need shadows? To reduce the render you should think about which models really need to cast/recieve shadows. Some models are more in the background, you wont notice when those don't got shadows. i.e. a stone on the background is a nice detail but doesn't need to cast shadows.

After a little digging in my private texture stock i found some sites that might be helpfull.
- http://www.imageafter.com/textures.php

I think there not so good as cg-textures but you might find that one texture you looking for.

You could always just scale down your models. There is a scale tool in scene mode which let you scale down the objects there to the right size. As a last resort, this could be an option.
