Thanks for the comments all of you.

btw what's pixia?  is it an image compositing program or something?

Pixia is a free paint program, i think it's pretty good. Not as good as photoshop but it's free and work for me. =) http://park18.wakwak.com/~pixia/ --> the link if your interrested.

hey, pretty sweet!  you've done a great job on the dark-and-dingy thing, i know i wouldn't wanna go down there!  glad to see you took my suggestion about the light fitting by the door :)  the greek text is an interesting touch, too.

Thanks, i did use you suggestions with the lamp and it turned out nice, i think. The greek text is just a personal joke by myself: i actually says 'Floyd & Co' in greek (i'm not greek, i'm dutch but still).

just a couple of questions - did you make the moon/stars texture(s) yourself?  and how come your post has a 'thumbs down' icon - a bit inappropriate for such a good render, isn't it?

I didn't made the moon and stars myself. I used a picture i found with google and then use pixia to make it the background.
And I have no idea why it has a thumbs down, i noticed it too when i posted it. Maybe a silent hint from steve? XD
i should hire you as a set builder for my next cgi movie...
You could, but i'm not cheap. =D

I finally finished my project: Dead End Road. For this project I tried to create a dark and dirty alley. It cost me alot of time setting up the scene and making the textures. I also used the new ART renderer to make some reflections in the windows etc. Later I used pixia to compose the final render:

Tell me what you think.

I can still see them at the bottom of my screen, maybe there is something wrong with your download. Try downloading it again.

Steve do you need the textures added with the file to fix this? Because i can send the file(3mb) but adding the textures would make it to big to send, because i used alot of textures.

However here is the download file without textures:

This happened to me too:

with ART:

And with scanline:
[img=http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/517/deadendroad008vc7.th.jpg]

I have problems with textures disappearing in renders and deforming. In the left lower corner you also can see the ground texture has deformed.

I don't know if your tried this yet but:
When you open up the attributes editor, click on new. Then fill in the attribute: class, specular...
Then click on ok and the fill in the type.

Hahah monty python, nice model. Just a tip, try to use the new ART render to make the orb look like real gold. Or just a nice envirenment map.

24 fps is standard and is best to use.

Are you looking for textures? Because I have a great site for realistic textures and pictures:
http://cgtextures.com/ It has a 30MB upload limit a day but that equals like 30 textures a day so that should be enough.

When you press esc when rendering (might need to press a couple of times), the render will stop.

hihosiler; I used the method too but i found a way better one.

Just export as a .obj UVmap it so you got a wireframe map of your object. Import your mapped object in anim8or and attach the material you made. With a paint program inverse the map and at it as a trans. map with 100. This will make all the faces invisble and the edges will be black.

With this you don't 'screw up' your model by adding more faces and edges.

I already commented on your video, but it looks really good. I always think rigging is a pain in the ass, but you have found your way nicely.
