can you elaborate? your question aint too clear friend. ok ill try answer it anyway .... so your in point edit mode and for example you want to select individual points on a shape....any shape lets say a sphere. Make sure you click view > wire, then make sure also you have converted the shape to mesh (if when u select the shape its outline is yellow then you have not converted it to mesh so ...build> convert to mesh) ok then make sure you're in point edit mode  then click on point selector and simply click on the points you want to select. If you want to select more than one point use the right click on your mouse or drag select.
ok hope that helps
p.s read the manual it may help

General Anim8or Forum / subdivisions using shapes created from splines
« on: February 26, 2009, 11:54:37 am »
Hi anim8ors  :D
i would just like to ask if anyone knows how to create better subdivisions from shapes that were created using splines. For example im trying to model a dolphin but when i created the fins using splines then extruded and subdivided them, they came out rather crinkled. is there a way to make them smoother and better. Ok im kinda new so i guess these things come with time but some tips would be appreciated too!!
many thanks to anyone who replies, your replies are going to good use  :D

Hi all
ok i kinda understand how to add faces. You take the point select tool then join the lines to make a shape but the problem i have is how fill them. As it says in the users manual i have selected all the new lines ive created but they always appear RED and when i click fill holes nothing happens. Ive attached a small image to show you where im at. I hope someone can help me.

thanks anyone who reads this

hi again
please forgive me all you experienced anim8ors for posting such a simple pic but i kinda like the idea of showing what ive done however simple then get feed, positive or negative so i may learn more. A couple of questions:
How can i make better colours?
and also why could i not select individual faces in point edit mode after converting to subdivide?
i was only able to select the whole image then apply one simple color. OK i'll try not to ask too much too soon so just 2 questions thanks
 :D

thanks dudes ill try all that out, and yes the manuals would be a good idea i always was one to rush and do things  ;D

Awesome idea dread!
It's wierd, I can actually picture the animation to go with the music in my head... but my skills are not yet at a level that I think of as high enough for this sort of challenge yet. :P
obviously there would be a quite a bit of work to do, i mean i cant just write the music then say 'here you go, plonk that on your animation' it needs to be timed and so on. I guess there would be a lot of collaboration work needed and oppurtunity to discuss the plus' and minus' of each others works! ok keep in touch

An interesting piece of music there. I have a suggestion. You could post this music on Animonon. We have monthly contests there. I would love to see making a video for your music be the challenge for March. This way you would have a whole bunch of videos to choose from. Heck, we could hold the contest right here (if that's ok with the mods)
thanks really glad someone replied, i thought all you anim8ors might think a musicain on your forum a bit crazy, but thanks its good to see some feed back. Ill have a look at animonom and see what happens from there. :)
