big thumbs up to craksy!!,

ANyone out there going to try a gamemaker, I wouldn't go with 3D gmaemaker if I were you, I tried it a few years ago and while it does make some good quick games for my 4 year old son, it doens't have any lasting appeal. Also even though they do still sell it they no longer really back it up with any kind of support or help.

Wow way to go calling lots of people cheaters, I don;t believe you or anyone else has the right to insult others like that. you are wlecome to your opinion but maybe you should stick to defending your point of view instead of attacking or insulting others Just a thought!!..

coming from a military family you don't need to tell me how a Gun or Cannon recoils, but thanks.
As for the whole parent tracking thing, that is a very interesting method, I might try it, thanks for the idea.
And the animation I am working on isn't meant to be real, just look good.
 :)

I think I just figured it out, but I will check the tutorial maybe try morhing, thanks.

he is what I have, A large tank style cannon.
He is what I want it to do, when firing I want it two sharfts of the cannon to recoil into each other.
I have tried palying around with bones and angels but can not get the affect I want,
So is there a way to shorten and lengthen bones during animation, I have tried to editing a sequence starting with a bode long and making that a keyframe and then 20 frames later changing the length of the boneand making that a keyframe but that doesn't work.

LOL I have read the manual thank you, I have read it several times,
I have made a cube loaded a texture added, basicaly what I said in the very first post!, and for that matter in my last post.
that is how I know that on the sides and top and bottom faces the texture is stretched, I have then clicked on those said faces and click on UV and then rotated the little square but nothing happens.

I converted my model to mesh, but still doesnt work, I don't understand,
I do everything you say,
Once I press the UV button a cirle apears with a square in the middle I can rotate the square but what is supoe to happen?.
If I select to whole cude I see the texture mo frm one face to another, Almost as if I were just rotating the object.
If i select a face or two and then rotate the square that apears within the circle nothing happens the texture stays still.

I am having a problem that I just can not seem to fix, I have a texture ok, I can load it in, fine..
I make a cube not a problem.
Click the buttons that will allow me to select faces, that I can do.
If I select the front and back faces of the cue and add the texture it looks fine, but when I go to select the sides, top and bottom faces and add the texture the texture gets added but it seems stretched.
What am I doing wrong.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Re: Just added new render
« on: May 16, 2008, 09:47:57 am »
I have no problems with the render time, I do do a quick render just to make sure the corner of the camera doesn't go through a mountain or something, and check that everything looks ok. Then just before I go to bed (10pm) I set it to render around 300 frames that means it is done around time of getting up (6.30-7.00am) So that is not a problem, as for changing the snowflakes, I might to a quick render with blobs instead of snowflakes but to be honest I like the snowflakes, I think it works well and is very attractive.
As for the igloo, obviously I modeled that very well, because while yes it does look like I moeled it an Ice block at a time, it is infact just a half sphere with a snow testure on it, I drew a grid on the texture in paint and then placed it on the sphere.

As for the Mountians in the background, I think I will try making that part of the background picture, simple to cut a few seconds off of rendering time, but if the image doens't look right I will not sacrifice the finished product just for a few seconds of render time on each frame, especaily when I only have around 200 more frames (one night of rendering) to go before this scene is finished.
I really appreciate all the comments and advice I do. I may take some of it onboard.
I will be posting the finished scene tomorrow all 800 frames of it.
Thanks again.
jai.

I was just wondering what programs people use to piece together their anims, and add sounds. I have been using windows movie maker but you can only add one sound, I need to be able to add multiple sounds and slow down or speed up parts of the anims..

Ok so this took 10 hours to render, it is only 300 frames (has sounds as well), the total scene will be 800 frames once rendered, Not sure yet how long the whole Animation will b, but it is going to be big.
