Well... My tank project may be in limbo since I sent it home for "family assistance" in posting... and the USB stick has come up missing.

I don't want to rebuild it... so, in the event that it remains missing, I have begun a quick attempt to create another item...

ALTERNATIVE WAR MACHINE SUBMISSION WIP:

Attached is the bare beginnings of another "war machine" (as I interpret it). It's something that has been around for around 25 years... The great thing about this little goody is that it comes with its own pedestal as a part of its "natural" setting :D

I am able to post still images, so am attaching an early in progress render here. I just cannot upload youtube and AVI type works for some reason. Can anyone guess what it is at this point?

I was asked to slap together a concept for a parking garage for the town I live in... the challenge being to create a building style that complements the existing "Star Tavern" in basic features.

Attached is an image of the existing building (Star Tavern) and neighboring vacant lot, plus the WIP of the proposed parking garage.

Just having some indoor plumbing issues. Once all the pipes are replaced, I should be as good as old :P

Raxx, whatever nasty things I ever said about you in the last 30 minutes... I didn't ;) Thanks for dragging it on and on... though I hate to see Ensoniq5 and crew have to hold out for so long....

Heck... what's the extension limit on a challenge? Seems to me we've had a few already...? I'll take it... though not sure when I can get an upload done. Maybe I can get my son to figure things out and haul a memory stick to the home machine....

That lipsync came out nice and smooth.

I haven't got around to doing any of that seriously, though I keep wanting to get back to my old "goblin" idea and have him with some mouthing/speech work for old cartoon ideas I had. One of my "next up" bits to re-tackle and get a few more things off the backburner...

that's a fun one... I eyeballed a few of your other bits, too. The helicopter prop test really looks cool... and the "sluggy" symbol - I love how it slams into itself with each piece.

Well folks, I got all my work in order and thought I'd be able to upload, but this hospital network doesn't let me do file transfers :(

I'm in for a few more days, so I guess I'll just enjoy all the other works. I like everyone's entries. A lot of fun stuff, regardless of what each of you may think or not of your work.

I had this one in the bag, too... :S Oh well, maybe I can make it up the next time, and stay OUT of the hospital for it?

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Something strange under the sun....
« on: September 13, 2011, 03:09:25 pm »
I got a weird render issue...

Note the two attached images...

IMAGE 1 Strange Renders - normal: I created this render by having a satellite figure as the only object, but applying a jpg background (IMAGE 2).

IMAGE 2 Stars and Sun: The backgound jpg I made for IMAGE 1's environment background file. I created that in an anim8or scene where I made the "sun" by using a flat surface with a blurred "glow" texture with a solid white-blue blurred jpg and a transmap to make the illusion of a bright sun/light. I had a plain starfield jpg for an environment background image. I've used this "sun" technique many times to make "glows" in light bulbs, etc. In fact, the satellite has a similar "bulb glow" in a small lamp on the housing, and at the end of the shorter antenna, though they are hard to see because of the small size of the render area.

IMAGE 3 Strange Renders - odd: Here, I have returned to the source "sun" flat  object which is placed behind sphere "planets". The spheres and sun "panel" are the only objects. A plain "star" jpg was applied for the environment background. Originally, when I rendered this into jpg it came out looking like the first image's sunshine render...

No matter what I do, I can't seem to get my "sun glow" object as seen in MAGE 3 to return to its original crisp, clean appearance as seen in IMAGE 1 and IMAGE 2. I have even tried replacing my anim8or program with fresh downloads.

Does anyone have any idea why this quirk seems to have arbitrarily raised its ugly head>

I think 12 seconds should be acceptable.

Ensoniq5: As for "imaginative ideas", blame it on my fever ;)

I really like how that came out, $imon. The sign and building textures really came out great!

hmmmm... could have had the craft land on a circular pad, which would then in turn rotate mechanically... Just time the rotation on the pad itself at 10 seconds (I do think 10 seconds should be more like 20 for the sake of easy viewing of the subject, but...)... but regardless of the rules, I like it!
