The peak it gets to is about 1.1 gig, i have nearly 9 gigs so i doubt that's the issue. Though this is a very complex scene so im going to try to break it into 30 second intervals to see if that works

1) In some places it looks almost as if parts of the ship's superstructure are lit from below rather than above.  If you have an overhead light modeling the sun then you may want to check your normals are correct.
2) The lighting appears flat as if some surfaces are emissive rather than illuminated.  Consider having a single overhead shadow-casting distant light as the sun with a bright-ish ambient light level, and ensure the ship model is set to both cast and receive shadows.  This will increase render times but will improve the realism of the scene greatly.

I gave up on the lighting as i could never get it working without making the model like its super bright or super dark. Could never get it to a satisfactory level outside of the default lighting

Mind sending me the full file? does not seem to be working for me :D

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Real-Time Lusitania Animation
« on: March 11, 2018, 12:05:24 am »
Hello all! Thought id make it its own topic but im in the process of making a real-time sinking animation of the Lusitania. This will be as accurate as i can make it and while im making a master timeline, this is being helped through lots o experts in the field to make sure its done right. Down below is a very early rough draft of the final plunge, the model is not done and it still need to be worked on plus better Sky ect.

I originally hoped to have animated water and smoke to go along with this but i think this project is already pushing Anim8or to the limits as having any of those effects for longer than 3 minuets causes it to crash

Maybe i can Frankenstein some wakes through the power of editing but i doubt it
Any help to increase production value is appreciated!

General Anim8or Forum / Looping Animation

Hey all i was wondering something

So it seems that when i create water or other particle effects they work fine for about 100 frames, however the bigger the frames you make them, the more likely it will just crash Anim8or.

I was wondering if it is possible to make a shorter animation but tell it to loop multiple times. Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks Steve!

Tried all those settings and it was still very "Black", adding more lights everywhere seemed to help a little but it still is super bright or very dark

General Anim8or Forum / Selecting All Objects Only On A Single Layer?
« on: March 06, 2018, 12:42:37 am »
Just a quick question

So say i want to animate water, which creates a huge amount of objects for a scene with the only way to change the size of the water is to select all and manually expand it. The issue is is that this can be a pain if you have multiple objects as you have to lock everything else so that it does not also increase size as to my understanding you cannot isolate items on a layer (i mean you cannot put objects on a layer, go to another layer, select all and exude the object on the other layer) I was wondering if there is a method of going around this that i might have missed

Any help is much appreciated

Anim8or v1.0 Discussion Forum / Animating Longer Scenes Crash
« on: March 06, 2018, 12:18:20 am »
So iv been having this issue, when designing and building longer scenes iv found that it is unstable and ready to crash (in the 15 min to 20 min range) This is especially apparent when having animated water in scenes as most of the time it just crashes. Putting the objects on multiple layers and only showing a few of them seems to resolve the issue however im not to sure when rendering if it can do it.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

General Anim8or Forum / New Member Greetings!

*Not sure if this is the right place to put this topic, if need to be moved be my guest

Greeting everyone, finally joined the group after using Anim8or for many years. I hope to contribute to the community in a positive
matter and be productive in my conversations. For those wanting to see some of the work i have done over the years here are some examples. Currently working on two big projects that will push Anim8or to the limits i think and certainly no Anim8or project has been this big as far to my knowledge

These first two where my first projects with anim8or back in 2013 that i just recently found again

First one which is also the first time used lighting

Another one i made sometime later and has more animated objects and far smother, though the reason it just ends is that this is a older version where the camera just stops as the completed version is long gone

This one i made just recently in about 4 hours of animating. Very early and will be improved on later
