I rendered my ornament at a very small size and it went at a good speed, but if you do a close up - get ready to take a nap. Just don't zoom in to close on dielectric objects.
Here is a file for fake metal - The spheres have a lower specular than the twisted objects. You might have to play around with the spec. depending on the objects. Also on the fake metal the emissive is raised a little.

Take a picture of something - Anything - and try to make it look as close as possible. The best wins - must show progress from Anim8or.

I made a few changes in the lighting and on one of the object's material - See if you can find it.
With shadows off there is not much difference, but you know me I go for the full effect when it comes to stills. When working with dielectric I have to sometimes turn shadows off.

This is some of the material, but without proper environment set up they will not look to great.
Lighting in the scene - Global = 1
Ambient Intensity = .6
The light has ray trace with shadows
The cube - You must flip face normals for the color and attributes to be seen
Play around with the numbers and colors - Enjoy!
