ASL Scripts / Re: Universal mirroring plugin

You can find this plugin in the ASL database...

I'm not sure if I understand the idea... Why don't you use the move or rotate tool to edit the points directly? It is simpler and it does the same like moving or rotating another object.

Edit: Now I checked the videos... Ok, I think I know what you mean. But it looks a bit too complicated for the current version of ASL... :-[

That's cool!

I think I've heard of the selection tip before, but I forgot about that... And the knife tool tip is great!

There has been a topic with several more useful tips, it doesn't hurt to remind it:

The bright version looks better on my screen, although it might be a little bit too bright IMO. I would make it something in between...

Great image by the way!

General Anim8or Forum / Re: How to copy vertices?

Hi there, if you still need a simple way to copy a part of your mesh, try this:

ASL Scripts / Copy Faces plugin
« on: January 11, 2010, 01:49:45 pm »
Yet another potentially useless little plugin...

This is where the idea came from: http://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php?topic=2934.0

If you need to duplicate a part of your mesh, select several faces and run this plugin. It does basically the same like the Detach Faces command, but it does not change the original shape.

ASL Scripts / Re: sequence asl issue
« on: January 11, 2010, 01:45:08 pm »
Hi Gringo,

I just posted a reply in the other thread. Next time you can just create a new topic, it's better than bumping old topics. And there's no need to post the same thing twice...

ASL Scripts / Re: ASL Scripts Database

If you want your figures to do the same movement repeatedly, I recommend creating a sequence:
http://www.anim8or.com/manual/6_sequence_editor.html

ASL scripts in the scene mode are very limited in the current version of Anim8or, it's not possible to animate a figure using a script.

I usually do it the following way:

  • Select a face or more, click Edit > Detach Faces
  • Select the new shape (detached faces) and press Ctrl + c or Ctrl + x
  • Hit undo twice to return to the original shape
  • Press Ctrl + v - now you have pasted a copy of the face(s) and the original shape remains untouched

Now you made me think of writing a simple plugin... Something like "Detach faces as a copy" command to do all this in 1 click.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Re: A very short animation...
« on: January 10, 2010, 05:43:24 am »
Thanks for the comments guys :)

I didn't use any physics simulator and I didn't even use any formulas to compute the keyframe values... I just guessed the movement. It was actually not very difficult to animate this, because the whole animation is only 2D (if you looked at the plank from the side, nothing would move or rotate in the Z-direction...)

Maybe the small cube should have gone the opposite way... I didn't think about that, but now you told me I have to agree with you.

I would like to create a bit more complex animation, but I'm afraid I can't do much more than this :-\

No scripts or physics engines... Just a bunch of keyframes :)

I think what Indian8or means is to upload an image to an image-hosting site (such as ImageShack or PhotoBucket) and then add the image to your post using the [img] tags (you can click the "Insert Image" button above the text window when posting a message...)

General Anim8or Forum / Re: could someone fix this?
« on: January 09, 2010, 11:35:40 am »
There's no general solution of this problem. Basically, some part of your file is probably corrupted or missing.

If you want, you can post the file on the forum so somebody can try to fix it... Or you can send it to me by e-mail (you'll find the address in my profile), if you do not want to share your file with everybody. I think the forum attachments don't work anyway at the moment, so e-mail is the only option.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / A very short animation...
« on: January 09, 2010, 10:52:20 am »
The Simple Machines challenge inspired me to create this short animation. I found myself too lazy to create a good, textured model for the challenge, so I started animating.

The whole thing was done in 2 hours, I spent most of the time trying to simulate physics...
