Finished Works and Works in Progress / Anim8or in AGS game
« on: January 26, 2016, 01:23:39 am »
I used Anim8or for a very short AGS Game (point and click adventure game).

Link (not sure this will work, noob at MediaFire):

The game name is Luther in the Hood, but the executable file is afroTest4 (my fault).

Made the models and rendered the 2D animations with Anim8or. Imported the stills and animations into AGS. Game is nothing to write home about, but looks like Anim8or is an good fit for AGS. Used build 1201 for this, and enjoying the hell out of the "trackballs!"

I need to figure out the transitional element here, but this is what I have at the moment:

Bryce render for the fly-around of a gas-station modeled in Anim8or. The render above is from Anim8or. Getting the gif animation onto the surface was labor intensive. Wish there were an easier way, but don't think there is.

Started tinkering around with this:

Not sure where it goes from here.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / The band

Working on this.

Hard to get the motions to look realistic. Then again, with a cow on drums, and a mouse on the synthesizer, what would realistic look like?

FYI, I'm using three lights in this: two spot lights, and one area light. Fog cranked up to max. I probably should have tried for a fire, but I am a chicken.  ;-)

General Anim8or Forum / Blenderize me, but why?
« on: July 05, 2014, 06:29:40 pm »
I keep getting shoves, from people I respect, toward Blender. Admittedly, I'm still new to Anim8or, having given up sPatch not all that long ago and with more than a little hesitation, but they seem to feel Anim8or will fall short, somewhere, somehow. I'm not seeing where, or how? Anyone clue me in? I know the renderer is limited, but Steve is actively working on the program (yeah, I know, he's in Italy at the moment), and there are other renderers that I can use. Bones are bones (or armatures), and IK would be lovely, but what makes Blender superior? Every single time I've tried to do a tutorial or a project in Blender, I've made absolutely no progress. And that includes a very simple snowman, which I couldn't do in Blender, 'cause it made no sense, but pulled out of Anim8or in no time, without any problem. I do note that a lot of the senior Forum members seem to use multiple tools, probably for a reason. Model me confused.

General Anim8or Forum / Skirts/robes
« on: June 27, 2014, 02:07:42 am »
I seem to be able to do skirts and robes, and they seem to work okay for walking.

But it sure doesn't work when you try to have them take a chair. Don't have an image handy, but think along the lines of those Carol Burnett sketches involving hoops skirts; all will be revealed when they sit down. Any guidance?

General Anim8or Forum / Why different in wireframe?
« on: June 19, 2014, 05:07:01 pm »
I bumble into some really stunning (to me, anyway) images in wireframe that look considerably different when rendered. I've been playing with this:

Take my word for it, the render doesn't look this good using any of the renderer options. I'm using one spot light and a fake light surface in the torch.

Is it simply a matter of darkening down the water, or is something different about wireframe that I can get the redered to do? I know it's my fault, but I'd love to get the scene to look like this, sans the wire. Oh, and I should mention the foliage on the hillock are Plantstudio. The pads and flowers upon them, are mine. And don't tell anybody, but I've got the canoe in there backwards. It'll be our little secret, until I get around to fixing it.

General Anim8or Forum / Paddle/pedal question
« on: June 09, 2014, 07:06:33 pm »

Got me wondering about the best way to handle things like the paddle, which is being operated by two hands, but can only attach to one bone (as far as I know). Something similar would apply to things like bicycle pedals. Any insights?

General Anim8or Forum / My boat leaks...
« on: June 06, 2014, 06:35:12 pm »
I'm playing around with a couple of model boats I made in Anim8or. I'm using Bryce 7.1 to render the images. Since the boats always sit down "in" the water plane, I've always got water inside the hulls. I'm guessing I could Boolean out a roughly boat size hole, or, maybe bring in a modified plane for the boat to sit in. Open to suggestions? Also open to suggestions about how to handle the wakes, when they're in motion. Thanks!

I've been working on this, off and on. Nothing here is fully rigged, and my animation is too fast, but thought I'd share, anyway.

General Anim8or Forum / Thanks, Ian

Since I was posting a couple of things, I wanted to give Ian Ross a "thanks" for his wonderful tutorials. They were very helpful, and well worth their small cost. Appreciated!

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Lower case "m"
« on: January 17, 2014, 06:29:32 pm »
First, I'm delighted to see active development again! I'm a total failure with Blender, but Anim8or is a delight. I'm already in love with the "mirror bones" feature, and I've also explored the glass, just a little.

I had a reason to do some 3d text yesterday. I noted a problem with the lower case "m." It's not acting right for fill/extrusion. It seems a repeatable error (on my system), and I went back to the earlier version of the program to do what I wanted.

Just registered, today. Hope this hasn't already been mentioned. Steve, you should be feeling a lot of love these days.
