Been modeling a couple of different lookout towers. Thought I'd share this one:



Tower is modeled in our beloved Anim8or. Bryce render with a bunch of OEM Bryce stuff: trees, rocks, foliage, terrains, fog, etc. Used the Cage and Stair script modules, which made my life considerably easier. Thanks for those!

Playing with this a bit more, and it might be worthwhile including something like this as a, I don't know, non-uniform inset extrusion. Might be useful for turning a square surface into a sort of round surface?



Also, is 1403 still the latest? With the discord stuff, I may have missed something, since I don't do discord. I'd previously reported issues with an earlier version that 1403 addressed and fixed.

Looks like vers 1403 missed the midpoints? I've dinked around with the text file for 1403,
and can move the points to their proper place by copy/pasting in the text file for the (0 5 5)
in the third line for points. I assume something similar would work with the (0 -5 5) portion as well.

This seems pretty consistent, lately, with 1403 version. When you merge faces and extrude with inset, it seems to lose track of points. Some points don't move with the others. Also seems like it may throw points into, or out of, the expected place, but I'm not sure this is a consistent issue. May be worth looking into?

Can't quite figure out a method to make the horses go up and down. Suggestions?

May have encountered an issue with 1403. Kept dumping me back to the desktop when I tried to export the sequence (the posed pony) as a 3ds to reimport and add to the crown object. That may not have been the best approach, but it's the one I settled on. I had to go back to 0.98 version, which had no problem making the 3ds file. FWIW, it's proving hard to go back to the 0.98 version after working with 1403 for a while.  Thanks, Steve! You really have improved your program.

Began playing with this:



Side question: I've found some of the controllers very useful in doing things like precisely setting angles for rotations. This image involved working with the UV stuff. Does the UV stuff have any similar controllers? I haven't bumbled into one, as yet. It might be useful, since doing it with the mouse tends to feel wonky.

A few things that are probably worth fixing, but I'm now out of steam on this one. Modeled in Anim8or, but used Bryce for some textures, presets, and rendering.

I admit to coming and going on the forum, but Anim8or remains my very favorite modeling tool. In my periodic visits, the forum has usually been fairly active. That doesn't seem to be the case now. Leaves me worried about what happened. Anyone?

If you have any experience with the Phur plug-in, I'd appreciate a tutorial on that. I can get it to pop-up the spikes, but the comb befuddles me. Extensive pdf explaining the process, but I'm still lost. Shortly going to look the forum over for using the plug-in. Intend to keep at it, since I need some fur on a model I'm trying to make. I'm not all that familiar with Anim8or's scripts.

Boy is this place a ghost town!

Seems like I was able to figure out lathes long ago, back when I was playing with the sPatch program. But I did appreciate that modifier tutorial, as previously stated. Any clue as to why the forum seems to be so silent now? I pop in from time to time, with long absences between those pop ins, but usually there seems to be some level of chatter going on. I'm guessing Steve is in Italy, something it appears he does yearly? I hope something hasn't happened to him! He's made a wonderful program. Last time I tried Blender, the tutorial showed nothing but attaching lines between boxes, and they weren't modeling anything, yet. Connecting various nodes, I guess?

I'm trying to use textures to apply logos and text to the side of a model. I made sure that the background of the texture is the same RGB color as the material. Unfortunately the texture is clearly delineated on the model. Suggestions for what I'm doing wrong?

Recently had your issue. Found that playing with the ambient got me closer to a match. Not perfect, but closer.
