Finished Works and Works in Progress / Hidden Room
« on: May 11, 2020, 09:01:22 pm »
Current AGS Background Blitz is "Hidden Room." Initial try wound up being the shower curtain. Wasn't happy with it, but salvaged it after finding a funny toilet photo during a Google Search.

The stuff on the shower curtain is from a Bryce render, but the final image is an Anim8or  Scanline render.

Edit: Found another shower curtain texture to add, but I don't "own" it, just passing along because I liked the effect:

Amazon list the curtain, for those that might be interested.

Thanks, Steve. I keep playing with the lights in Bryce. This version is a bit more dynamic:

Not sure if I'm going to do much more with it. Seem to have reached the point of diminishing returns.

Another attempt at the current AGS Background Blitz (topic Glowing):

Bryce render, and most of the foliage came from Bryce.

Had a free Saturday, and the latest Background Blitz on the AGS Forum involves scale. Found an interesting vehicle weight scale at a Kansas landfill. Also decided to work up a pedal airplane, as another take on scale.

Model with Anim8or. Rendered in Bryce. I was able to figure out the green coloring around the middle pillar in the ditch. It's the texture I used. Tried a different Bryce texture and it cleared it up.

Couldn't have done it without Anim8or! Got the scene into Bryce. Promptly messed up the ground plane/background, but was able to delete it and bring it back in, again. Here's a Bryce render that I liked.

Current AGS Forum Background Blitz challenge involves a church or a temple. Googled images and came across Stave Churches. Opted to try for one. Here's what I've have, so far. First image in Scanline, second in ART. I've got a lot yet to learn about render options.

And I should add that the trees/foliage found there way out of Bryce. Tried to render in Bryce, but kept messing things up.

Tried this recently. IK really helped on the bike and unicycle. Thank you so much, Steve!

Thanks for taking a look! I have no plans to do anything more with it. It was a passing thought about the January MAGS (monthly AGS game) topic, which was Black Death, as in the bubonic plague in Europe during the middle ages. AGS supports sounds, music, and voice acting, but I didn't use any of them. I never got the dialog to work quite like I wanted it to, and I pretty much stayed with the BASS template that comes with the engine and allows noobs to make something that resembles an actual game. It was, very much, a learning experience.

I used Anim8or for a very short AGS Game (point and click adventure game).

Link (not sure this will work, noob at MediaFire):

The game name is Luther in the Hood, but the executable file is afroTest4 (my fault).

Made the models and rendered the 2D animations with Anim8or. Imported the stills and animations into AGS. Game is nothing to write home about, but looks like Anim8or is an good fit for AGS. Used build 1201 for this, and enjoying the hell out of the "trackballs!"

What happened to version 9? I heard people could upgrade to version 8 quite sometime back and now version 10? Slow down Microsoft!

I believe Microsoft skipped version 9 to avoid confusion with Win95/98, which were sometimes referred to as 9x, or 9.x. Might be wrong.

hi Jwalt,

 Looks interesting.
I need to figure out the transitional element here,
Getting the gif animation onto the surface was labor intensive.
Wondering how you did this so far?

I generated a fly around of the model in Bryce and saved the images (around 44) as bmps. I then went back and forth between object and scene, changing the texture on the cube I was using to display the image, and then taking the shot. Worked, but is prone to making mistakes. I think I've done as much as I'm going to do with it:

I goofed on the fist, and wound up with a southpaw.

I need to figure out the transitional element here, but this is what I have at the moment:

Bryce render for the fly-around of a gas-station modeled in Anim8or. The render above is from Anim8or. Getting the gif animation onto the surface was labor intensive. Wish there were an easier way, but don't think there is.

These are not questions to answer, but show the complexities that a Newbie has to face.

Back to my question, How do I apply light blue to every face with only one Materials "Apply" mouse click.
I tried it with the simple box, same results, Some time it works and some time not!!

Sorry for the jpg image.

1 Select object point edit
2 Select  face select
3 Select drag select and draw a box around the cube (selects all faces)
4 Set up the color material you want and Apply

Selecting individual faces for a single application of material requires left click select for initial surface, followed by right clicks for additional selections. If you make a mistake, alt-right click will deselect the last selection. Note if you are using some of the later builds, it may well work differently.

Last post, cow invited to dinner, funny.

Decided to make that Christmas Dinner

I should, probably, have extruded the white faces to simulate the fur trim, but I didn't want to sink any more time into this one.  ;-)

Ho, ho, ho... Merry Christmas, folks!

Oh man, jwalt, I know in the past I've told you I like your art style... Keep this stuff coming!

Thank you. I do get discouraged from time to time. Not Judge Judy related, but here's something:

The cow got invited to lunch, it appears.
