Try using the view all option to open 4 separate views as this can help view things from several different viewpoints. This helps you organize things in the work space. I've experienced the same thing at times when trying to line up multiple objects in Anim8or.

Hmm, I run it on my Compaq laptop without any major issues under Win7. Try updating your video drivers with the update feature of Windows. Also try running compatibility mode for XP service pack 3. Keep us informed on your progress though.

That would be intense indeed. Perhaps VRML, X3D, or one of the other web enabled formats would make using something like 3D Exploration to convert Anim8or animated models to some other model formats that support animation? Not really sure if something like this is even doable? Even non animated would be useful as well.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: issue with exporting to 3ds
« on: February 22, 2014, 03:03:32 am »
Ippena, the error message prior to the opening my 3ds file were a series of "anim8or can't open texture file:" pop-up windows. Are you sure that this is an illumiantion problem? How would I be able to fix it?

I'm unsure about Anim8or but as far as I know the model should load anyways minus the textures of course. In Truespace the software will search system folders to find the missing textures; if it can't find them then it loads the model minus the textures and this is where they appear black. Don't know about Anim8or though.

I've seen this issue in other modeling software as well like Caligari's Truespace. The issue appears to be related to illumination levels getting reset some how to zero. In TS I just adjust the luminance levels up again to make the texture show up when it appears black in the workspace. Try to determine if they're  actually missing or something else may be going on.

If possible please consider adding animation export support for some common interchangeable model format of your choice. Perhaps FBX or maybe DAE? Thanks, Leroy.

Most excellent Raxx. Let me the first to say thank you. This is indeed a very cool set of UV mapping tools. Leroy.

ASL Scripts / Re: XSI Export Script - LIA
« on: February 06, 2014, 08:39:21 am »
Most excellent Raxx. Many thanks Leroy. I've been posting the XSI work you've done on several other modeling forums including my own forum blog. I've been working with another script writer named Tsvetan that has created an XSI importer for G/Max and I would imagine that modelers can import XSI models into GMAX to animate and texture their models using the key frame editor and mapping tools. He also been trying to make an XSI exporter script but GMAX has some serious issues with exporting non game pack supported models due to licencing limitations.

Question: Does this script act as an XSI exporter or do I need to still use the original XSI exporter that you made a while back? Could you please post some simple instructions on it's application as far as preparing a hierarchal model for export to XSI? Thank you so very much for doing as much as you already have. Leroy.

Ongoing Anim8or Development / Re: Layers
« on: February 04, 2014, 07:47:49 pm »
Layers are nice for keeping complex scenes a bit more managable, but I never really used them all that much in Caligari Truespace; I believe it supported up to 8 layers. Advanced model maker will probably come to appreciate the layer feature in Anim8or. Thanks, for adding the feature Steve. Leroy.

Cool, I'll download and try working with this for both Direct X and Softimage XSI models with parent and child groups Raxx. Leroy.

I hear ya. Blender is a real mind bender for a lot of us. Caligari Truespace 7.6 is fairly easy on the brain along with Anim8or 3D. I mostly use the old modelside of TS 6.6 and love using both TS and Anim8or. Thanks Steve for creating a simply wonderful modeling application. Leroy.
