Luckily enough, I showed him how to model an apple on skype, and they've (being him and his siblings) have started on the eggplant and got pretty far. One thing I didn't know is that they great learners. I'll recommend him to this site.

Well... I gave him little advice and he's off with it... hope he makes some good models. oh, and by the way, dyno inc (www.dynoinc.tk) is now a privately owned animation company based around anim8or.

**you should direct him to the important links you learned modeling or animation from.**

what i think is most important in modeling, is edge loops. the better the edgeloops are the easier it is to animate or texture.  it really depends on organic or mechanic modelelling. most mechanic is simple shapes. organic is a little bit different, but its stll the same principle.

when you model an objetc you have to concider the textures and animation. it gets a little more complex but i think the basics are the basics.

uv maps, easy rigging, displacement maps. are what you need to worry about while your modeling your abject.
