So I took the chance I got to use Anim8or for my science project!  The assignment was to make a presentation on the Kinetic Molecular Theory with a poster, Word brochure, PhotoStory, ect. Or.... go all out and make an animation!

Like it says in the description, the resolution came out horrible. I don't know what happened. I'll have to reupload it sometime soon, but it's due tomorrow so I don't have time to fix it at the moment.

Also, this is the first video I've uploaded that has my actual voice!

So I have my new computer now, only the 7 version of WMM is impossible to use. I can't even see what I'm doing!  I know I can download an older version, but I kind of want something better.  I downloaded this thing called "Wax" because it looked like it would be what I wanted, but it only works with AVI files and I REALLY don't want to go through and convert everything!

I need good, free, high-rating software. Suggestions?

General Anim8or Forum / Speed up Scene editor?
« on: December 25, 2011, 02:10:59 am »
I need a way to reduce the RAM and Processor usage of Scene editor, because on my computer it's getting ridiculous. You guys know my problems with RAM, but I also discovered that my processor is measured in MHz.  That's hardly the bare minimum in functionality!

"Mobile AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3500+ 351 MHz, 896MB of RAM Physical Address Extention"

Well, a certain problem popped up (which I still can't find) that is dramatically decreasing the speed of Anim8or in Scene Mode.  I move a shape, and it literally takes longer than 60 seconds for it to move from point A to point B, and sometimes it doesn't even land on point B!  I really need a way to speed this up, because it's making it nearly unusable and more than frustrating!
I tried hiding high-poly shapes that I wasn't working with, which sped things up a little, but it's still bad.  I also got a cleaning program that found over 8000 problems with my computer and supposedly fixed them, but still no luck with Anim8or. Any suggestions? I need them badly.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / So I Finally Try "Subdivision"
« on: November 08, 2011, 03:09:25 am »
and I must say, I was wrong about it! I never used it because I thought it wouldn't do the things I wanted and I would always do everything "from scratch". Absolutely none of my previous models used the subdivided feature.  But now I decided I would try it out and I feel amazed and stupid at the same time that I didn't use this before! (Herpaderp  :P ) So this is what I came up with. Bet you can't guess what it is! of course now I have to figure out how I'm going to add the eyes and mouth in there...

Finished Works and Works in Progress / UFO Sighting Reconstruction
« on: September 19, 2011, 11:02:16 pm »
Sorry for posting so many topics  :-\ but this was just awesome.

So I had somewhat of a "UFO" experience yesterday. I was driving down the highway with my mom, and I look out the window to see this crazy-looking thing.  I couldn't get any pictures, so I decided Anim8or was the perfect tool to make an animated reconstruction!  Hope you find it interesting, and if anyone could tell me what this thing could be, that would be great.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Some Lipsyncing
« on: September 14, 2011, 08:14:56 pm »

Just a lipsync test that I decided to take to the next level.  I know the fireworks didn't turn out the best. I wanted to re-render that clip and fix them but... I didn't feel like it at all.  Some of the lipsyncing is a bit off, especially in the first line. So anyway, here it is.

General Anim8or Forum / Hmm...

So I need a new laptop... bad.  1GB RAM and a crap processor just isn't working for me. I have to deal with freezes, whitescreens, and lag ALL the time which makes Anim8or and everything else I do hard.  (Latitude-D531, this thing was made in at least 2006!)

So whenever the day comes that I get the new latop of my dreams, I'm considering Windows 7.  I have XP now, and it does everything I need it to, but how will getting 7 affect Anim8or? I've seen the conversations about issues on other operating systems so I'm wondering, is it worth the switch?

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Cursed Horse II

Yes! I am making a sequel!  I was sick of watching the ugly one I made as my first animation, and that run cycle that makes me cringe.  I just started work on a new one with new cycles.  My first animation was before I knew a lot about Anim8or, so I had a lot of things to fix up.

1. I didn't know how to merge faces and most of the objects were halves grouped together.
2. I went with the Robin tutorial and made every single bone of the skeleton a seperate object! Arg!
3. I had to touch up a few things, especially the skull. Some parts were SO messed up that I couldn't fix it without making it worse, so I just said "Whatever" and left it.

So after doing all that, I decided to skin my model. Except.... It's not turning out as accurate as it did the first time around.

As you can see in the attached image, the front hooves and tail pieces are detaching from each other.  Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Edit: Just figured it out. I needed to adjust some bone lengths. Well, now you all know what I'm up to. :D

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Scene from my Dreams
« on: July 16, 2011, 02:57:53 am »
A scene somewhat inspired from a dream I had. It's not EXACTLY what it looked like since the beach was much bigger and the water stretched out much further and it looked a lot more open. Anyway, I made and rendered this completely in Anim8or and used tons of UV textures, transmaps, and bumpmaps. it took me a few days to make the whole thing, who knows how many hours of those days I was working on it.

Does this look familiar to anyone? Maybe I'm psychic and this is an actual place somewhere. Who knows!

General Anim8or Forum / Quick question...
« on: July 13, 2011, 08:13:27 pm »
So my friend plays the game, IMVU and wanted a special tail. I made a mesh of it for her and was wondering if there's a file type I can export it as that will be compatable with the game so they can use it.

Took me only a few hours to make and about 10 minutes to render the 30-frame sequence.

ASL Scripts / an "Inflate" script?
« on: June 02, 2011, 11:09:44 pm »
Something I wish was possible is the ability to not just make things bigger, but more like "Inflate" them.  Say you have an object that has openings in it, (most simply a wheel or donut shape) and you want to make it bigger, but thicker.  I don't know if I'm making any sense, but the picture may help.

Could someone maybe try to make this, or point me to it if it already exists?

General Anim8or Forum / WHAT is wrong with my shadows!?
« on: May 03, 2011, 10:30:39 pm »
Well, I was working on my project for History Class which I was creatively doing in Anim8or. I was going to surprise you all, but this problem turned up and forced me to tell it.  My shadows seem to be... inverted in this scene.  Can someone tell me what's wrong here?

It's an infinite light and it's only doing that in camera view.  it looks like there's a polygonally shaped thing in the way, almost like the light is backwards.  This is Volume shadows, Ray-trace seems to work just fine, but I don't want to go through that much time.  For now I'll give up on shadows, but I still want to know what's going on with this
