General Anim8or Forum / export problems with GODOT
« on: November 29, 2021, 05:44:10 pm »
Problem:  Model scale

I have this same problem with Tinkercad,  and Anim8or but not sketchup.   1 unit =250 units in Godot approximately.  in Sketchup a 12" model imports as a 12" model. But in Tinkercad a 1/8" model imports at over 100 meters.  Anim8or exports at 1 unit = 200 to 250units=  basically maximum size.

How can I setup Anim8or's scale to reduce export file size easily?

I am hopeful Anim80r wil be able to export to gltf soon, but even then I will need to understand  scale better.

Anim8or v1.0 Discussion Forum / any plans for gltf format?
« on: November 17, 2021, 02:08:12 am »
Hi just as the title says-  any plans to implement gltf export?  This is the format Godot prefers,  Currently from anim8or I export as obj then import that in blender (which I do not like using) to export as gltf or as collada dae formats.

Thanks

As the title says.  Anim8tor ver 1.01 runs perfectly on Sparky Linux GameOver edition (listed under special editions in the wiki).

Just download anim8or onto the drive, then run with playonlinux.

I could not get it to run on other flavors of linux.

Well cancer has been kicking my butt.  I am now on hospice but back to trying to finish some games using anim8or as my modeling software.

Unfortunately I lost all my model files when I moved to a new city to hospice.  So I am starting over.

I just want to say this is a really a great program.  Thank you all for keeping it alive, it helps me greatly.

Simple low poly marble models for my tower defense game rabbits vs marblez.

I have a few more to make but they require much animation such as a jelly marble.

Thanks for looking

I am trying to apply decal to sphere.

The problem is how it renders the transparency of the decal  texture:

As you can see the transparency comes out strange.  Ideas?

And thank yall I know Im posting a lot of questions bit I am almost fully back up to speed.

Attached are my latest attempts modeling a shooter tower- non animated.

options >> turned off grid

I attached the image to centered on origin,  then set orthogonal, then clicked f to center frame, unselected  dbl clicked group and changed property Y 0 then 45, then 80 etc...

render object image as imag+alpha, save as png

Im happy with these results.

General Anim8or Forum / Cancer wiped out the past two years but Im back.
« on: January 11, 2021, 02:02:11 am »
The last post I read here was on dec 27. 2018-  then the next two years have been hell as I fell under the effects of stage 3B colon cancer and the chemo. Tomorrow is my last chemo if I am cancer free.

Last time I was on here I was using this program as an alternative to sketchup on linux for my woodshop.  Well my woodshop hasnt been open for more than a year. Lost much of my equipment to the bank etc.  You know the whole cancer spiel.  But I lived!  And I am able to code and create graphic art again!

I began developing games again. Released one game about a month ago, have been selling game assets.   The current project I am on requires about 90 models.  I am developing in Defold and Godot.  Defold can use dae models and Godot can use several.  Both can use png renders.

So what is the current build is 1.00b the latest version or is there a later build?

Any cool new developments?

I believe my last conversation I looked up we were discussing how to do a batch rendering of orthoganal views in 8 cardinal points of direction.  That will be one of my first things I need to learn as well as relearning the software.

Thanks for being here.  This type of modeling program is needed.

General Anim8or Forum / Export as cutlist?
« on: May 06, 2019, 10:41:34 pm »
For ten years I have used Sketchup for my woodshop, but now I  do not own a windows computer and sketchup does not work well on my system.  but I can model very fast on your program. I noticed for the first time today that you have cad notation.

Question:

Can you export a list of objects with their x,y,z sizes, material names and object names?

 Build->SplitSolids in main Object editor that separates unconnected parts of a mesh or subdivision surface
 Edit->Pivot->CenterPivot
 Edit->Pivot->AlignWithShape
 Edit->Pivot->AlignWithWorld

I went to my model and nothing happened when I selected an object and clicked these. What do they do and how do I use them?

I would like a way to lock the ortho to always be able to return to the initial view.

What happens is when I am making isometric models, I have produced four models. But I noticed on model 1 and 2 the camera angle shifted on ortho view. And so the renders now are off from the others. I have tried resetting views to default but that did not work.

How can I set up a view that locks the view?

BTW even with the little glitches I am producing exported iso png's fairly fast.  I can model a new asset quicker now than I can draw a 2d graphic.
