Finished Works and Works in Progress / Re: Dragon Scene textured

ASIANBATMAN That's a tough question to answer, I really don't know how long. With any 3D program it takes time and practice.
The more you work with Anim8or the easier it gets and the better you get at it. I always try to improve.
I think Anim8or gives you the best chance to improve more quickly.

Hi KyleSan.
I guess I would describe the scene as very early morning, cloudy, mist rising, moon stll visible
but not the main source of  light. The moon is a separate object and  probably should be removed from the scene.
There is bump/normal mapping on most objects, but very light. The outcrop landscape could use more definition.

The dragon texture itself is mostly derived from snake and crocodile, so no traditional scales.
The general design of the dragon is similar to the first version that appears in the movie EVOLUTION.
This was probably my most difficult texture job. The dragon has virtually no specular, so the smooth spot
is either a texture defect I missed or a render/compositing issue.

The female pose was my attempt at her looking defensive but uncertain. lol
The female model has no hair in Anim8or. The hair is not a mesh so there is no wireframe for that.
It was added to the scene using the particle system.

Anyway, I can't do much at the moment as my laptops graphics card started glitching out just before Christmas.
I put a new beefed up, but modest system together, but waiting for the Win7 OS to come in. I'll only get Win10
when I have no other choice. Thanks for the input.

Nicely done Deepthought. Quite entertaining.
The guys screaming as they fly back gave me chuckle. :)

I agree with johnar concerning the buttons. I actually find it a bit strange working with multiple buttons active.

In Normal or Fast it seems points are no longer selected with the edge as in previous versions.
That came in handy for locating a hidden point.

i have no view labels or titles in 1127
The 'Welcome to Anim8or' and 'Object:Object01' type messages in the title stopped working for me at 1086.
At 1086 the title just displayed the text 'Anim8or' and later versions had no text at all.
No problem with View labels. I use Vista Opengl 3.3 with the Classic theme enabled.

Very nice on the model.
Version 3.0 pro, I'm extremely jealous. It has extra features mine doesn't have.
I noticed the list of movie and TV credits has also really grown.

I'm pretty sure PI is ( Particle Illusion ). It's even been used in different TV shows.
I've had a copy for years (Ver 2.0.1 SE). I love that program.

Looks pretty awesome. What are you using for the particle smoke?

Just like to say.. I've had no problems connecting for last couple of weeks.
Thanks to Steve if you had something to do with that.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Default spheres looking more like ovals?
« on: October 15, 2014, 11:54:07 pm »
I never realized the default sphere had creases at the poles after subdivision.

Been playing around with the Spherize script a bit more.
Started with a cube and subdivided> mesh> Spherize (twice) and got a perfect sphere and no visible creases.
The script really works nice.

Raxx, you have created the closest yet. There is still a minute spherical variance, (very minute) and
the poles still show slight visible creases, but you made a definite improvement.
The heavy weight sphere I created (in Blender) has no visible creases and no spherical variation whatsoever.
The LON and LAT divisions in Anim8or are very limited, so I can't create the same sphere in Anim8or.

Anyhow, Ive managed with what we've got so far and I don't see that changing any time soon. :)
