ASL Scripts / Re: Script request: export a 3d model from sequence mode

That's great Raxx. Works perfect.
I cross referenced these two methods.

The problem with Ani2Pov is, it turns Quads to Tris, so you can't get an exact copy.
Your method (GLXTractor) works perfect for static models.
The Ani2Pov method works best for animated game models as most engines use Tris anyway.

Nice job 'cooldude234' !
I really like the look of your model and render.
Could use a couple more polys on the outer corners , but still great.

Hmmmm...
I explained how to use a background image in a scene.
Did you not try that ?
The 'Reference image' is only used in 'Object mode' as a guide for modeling.

I think you might want to try reading the Manual first, before you go any further.

Could use a bit more information.
Maybe explain what you have done so far, then myself or someone else can help you.

In Scene Mode, look under Settings > Environment.
In the Environment Panel select 'image' and load your image 'File'.
It will be visible in the Camera View only.

You could also load your image as a texture and apply it on a plane in 'Object mode'.
Then import it as an object in 'Scene Mode'.

Hope this helps.

Try Arc Rotate button next to the Materials button.
Place your mouse inside the green circle.
Right mouse button will 'pan' the window.
Left mouse button will 'rotate' the window.
Middle mouse button (or alt right mouse button) will 'zoom' the window.

If you start inside the little green squares you can rotate on the X an Y axis.

Options > Grid menu sizes the grid.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: .Obj failing to import
« on: January 10, 2013, 02:26:17 am »
'Jaw Jaw'  I never really ran into importing problems before, that I can think of.
Just did a test importing and exporting an .obj file with 191,448 polys with no problem.
I know .3ds has a definite limit, but I never use it anyway.
Hope somebody can help you out.

"The only problem with exporting scenes with anim8or is that they must be in 3DS format there is no option for .obj Then there is the problem of figures they are not exportable and with characters that are sub-divided the software hangs with a too many faces exceeds limit 65535  error."

That's what I meant by limited size. Just got my wording a little screwed up.
I also found an easy way of importing armature and animation. (Blender_SMD_Tools)
Maybe I should drop over to anim8orWorld.com.

Ha ha. Seems I'm not the only one that made Blender look like Anim8or
to make it feel more comfortable. I run Vista but have all my settings
set to Classic for the same reason.

Love modeling in Anim8or, but the renderer now is really outdated.
That's why I model in Anim8or and render most scenes in Blender.

cello95, I export from anim8or as an obj. file (no subdivsion). It leaves the mesh in quads, whereas
.3ds converts to tris. It's size is more limited though, so I never try to export a
whole scene at once. Just import your objects to Blender, set up your lights and camera.
Importing Anim8or animations to Blender is a bit trickier.

Wish we had a permanent thread for using Blender (other software) with Anim8or, but
Steve probably wouldn't appreciate it.

'Raxx' really well done. Love the button eyes too.

'davdud101' really a great job as well. Liked it very much.

I did try this even though I don't have any video hosting accounts, but
CamStudio and I just didn't get along at first. I ended up losing too much video.
Hopefully I can add something next time.

Checked out your intro / cut scene. Very nice job on the animation.
Very fluid and 'no skating'.
A lot of really good work is ruined by not sticking the feet to ground when walking.
You took the time to do it right and it shows. Well done.
