General Anim8or Forum / Re: MakeHuman --> .obj --> Anim8or: no textures?
« on: September 02, 2008, 08:25:16 pm »
that is what it is suppost to do. the .mtl file extention only carries color textures, and it links to file textures. make human doesn't give you the file textures that it uses for its skin and hair for the eye lashes and eye brows. so you have to put in your own skin texture map in the body and head texture and put in your own texture map for the eye lash and eye brows. the textures are already seperated so just place your texture map in the right place.

.95c obj importer does not support the .mtl file that comes along with the .obj file to import the models texture. if you download the .96 or .97 version and use those to import the obj file, all of the makehuman textures will be imported as well.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: compositing frames to video
« on: August 30, 2008, 03:08:53 pm »
it is easier to render the animation as a movie, but I was reading a maya documentation and it gives alot of sugestions how to render your animations faster and rendering as indivisual frames is one. As far as rendering in the video editor, it really dosn't matter what you put inthe video as far as frames or entire videos. what makes it take so long is the special effects you put over the video, how long the video is and the compression that you use. I rember having virtualdub along time ago to seperate a video sequence into single frames, but i really didn't like it back then. it seemed buggy, but i'll try it.

I read in maya that animations will render faster if you batch render each frame into an image file instead of rendering the animation streight to a video. I was trying to figure out how do you composite all the frames into one video. I know I can put it into a video editing software and render a video but when you import images into a timeline they have a default time of five seconds and it will take forever to scale every image to a time of .01. is their a faster and better way?

you animate with the green key on. if you have previously rotated the camera with the green key on you have to have the green key on every time you try to rotate it afterwards. when the green key is on every time you move something a key frame is made. It is in the manual.

you can create a cube convert it to mesh delete four points on the cube to make a flat plane. create a new material and load your 2d image into the material and uv map it onto the plane. (go to edit mode select the face of the plane and go to edit and go down and select subdivide faces three or four times.) Put the plane in figure mode and rig the plane and take it into scene mode and animate.

it is good to make a back up of your fille but yes you can do this in a way. just export the figure to its own file. if it ask you do you want to export the objects with the skelonton say no. then import the figure back into the file. do not import any objects associated with the skelonton. then just put another object to animate on the skelonton. since both skelontons are the same. the sequences that you make for one should work for the other.

the cd drive has a different path than the thumb drive. example in anim8or the texture may be in f:\texture/texturename.jpg. if you put it on cd  your cd drive has a different drive letter like mine is d:/. the thumb drive will show up on any computer as drive f:/  so anim8or looks for drive f:/ but it being on cd it is in drive d:/ instead so the textures don't load up. in configuration there should be a option so you tell anim8or were to look for all of your textures instead of loading each one over again.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Adding text to a video
« on: July 24, 2008, 05:06:08 pm »
movie maker can add sub titles under the video. go to titles and credits and select add title to selected clip. type in your text then choose change title animation. go to the top and select subtitles and you are done. as far as lines pointing to things. you can take a picture of that frame and take it into any paint program and draw the line with whatever text and bring it back into the video, but in movie maker it will have to be its own clip because movie maker doesn't do video overlays, unless you do a overlay transition. but that wouldn't look to good.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Hole Appears in Subdivided Mesh
« on: July 24, 2008, 04:57:18 pm »
some were around were the hole is in your mesh you have a line that has three or more faces on it. this may have come from you merging two objects together into one object and merging the points together. the lines may be connected but the extra faces are still there. double click on the object, set the subdivided object to 0 and convert back to mesh. find were ever the hole was in the mesh and drag group select some lines in that area. find all the lines that are purple (not red) and delete them. this will get ride of the extra faces. then re-fill any nessary hole in the mesh then subdivide the model again. the hole should be gone. if not there are more lines that have more than two faces. sorry for the long post but hope this helps.

it looks like some kind of sword, so you should make the side that's pointed to the ground sharp by mearging the points so they are not flat. if they are sorry, but tey look flat from the position you rendered from.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: How do you make dynamic shadows?
« on: July 12, 2008, 06:29:35 pm »
As for the first question. if you can render a picture with shadows you should be able to render an animation with shadows. Just double click on the item in scene mode and make sure that for shadows that cast shadow is checked. Then you have to go to build light and create a light and go to advance and make sure that shadows is checked.

Now that I think about it are you talking about the tutorial on the left. that is more like a static baked on shadow. you can't animate that unless you put in an animated texture with terranim8or.

As for the second question, i don't know exactly what you mean but if you have 2 or more objects in a figure, sequence mode will treat them as one object. you have to put each object in its own figure and put them in scsne mode to animat them seperatly. hope that helps.
