Finished Works and Works in Progress / Re: Hello everybody
« on: May 02, 2020, 01:25:21 pm »
Hello everybody,
I'm back to Anim8or after a very, very long time!
Nice to see that Steve still makes some nice improvements and that so much users from my old time on Anim8or are still active (Thecolclough, Neirao, Arik_The_Red, Johnar, Davdud101, Ronaldefarmer, Kreator, Fromsoysauce, Coridavis, Gyperboloid, ENSONIQ5, Raxx, Rudyschneider, NickE!)
In some European countries, it is traditional to offer a sprig of lily of the valley on May 1st. The coronavirus pandemic preventing us from doing this this year, I wanted to model one and send it to my loved ones.
I also wanted to send it to all the members of the Anim8or community and wish them to get through this complicated period without a hitch.
Greets from Belgium.
Christophe

Welcome back Steve!
Happy to know you're fine.
I'd like so much to create again with your wonderfull Anim8or.
With family and job, it's now very difficult for me, but I'll give it a try.

Very nice ideas to see here! It's now time to me to stop work, and go back to anim8or :D (for my boss: if you read this, my work is already done ;D). I hope I'll have time to finish something...

After a few hours drawing and modelling today, here are the first pieces of my robot ... Still a very big lot of work to get the result I want but I think I'll have more time next week (this week, I was in Germany for my job).

You coul take a look to:
- the manual: Ray traced shadows : http://www.anim8or.com/manual/7_scene_editor.html#ray_traced_shadows
- the anim8or Ray Tracer (ART): http://www.anim8or.com/download/preview/art_raytracer.html
- The AmbientOccluder: http://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php?topic=1316.0
I hope this will help (it is a little difficult to use the first time but give good results!)
You can also find a lot of tutorials abouts lighting, as small example : http://www.3drender.com/light/3point.html
Have fun ;)

Very nice character and the pose looks very natural. I like the colors and the light too  :D
With so much talent, sure you could make your scene look more "finished" with better ground and background, and your light is good but could be better and give more complex shadows.
I can't wait to see the next render you will post here!!

Hello RaXX,
Nice to see you again on the forum, I hope we'll see a lot of your amazing works.
I think I'll have a little more time for Anim8or next year and a chat place could be good
(but for me the best thing on the forum is the challenge category)

Nice idea to try to simulate water!
You could take a look to this tutorial:

http://biederman.net/leslie/tutorials/Terranim8or/water_refraction/Animated_water.pdf

I tried it a (long) time ago and I think it is very good (you will maybe have to create a material to fit to what you want)

As Headwax says:
ANIM8OR IS NOT DEAD,
i'll continue to use it and sometimes to be active on the forum, but like Steve, I don't have a lot of time for this.
The only think i hope is that Steve has no time because he has a lot of work, a family or something like this and not because he has problems.
Hope to see you all on this forum (the only one I am in) for a long time.
