General Anim8or Forum / Reference image in sequence or scene mode
« on: August 24, 2009, 03:40:22 pm »
Perhaps a crazy question! ;D Knows anybody if there is a way to add a reference image in sequence or scene mode? I think this can help me to add good keys.
(Yes, I'm now playing with animating ;))

General Anim8or Forum / Two Sided material
« on: August 24, 2009, 03:30:16 pm »
Just a small question about two sided materials...
I try to make a two sided material with a texture (diffuse) on each face, on the workview I get the expected effect but in the render, the texture of the front side comes on the two sides...
I find no answer in the manual. Has somebody already tried to make this? Did you get the same result?

Just an exception to the rule (no computer use on holliday...) for voting.
Nice works all, and good luck.

Nice Works progress everybody! (Hey $imon, don't give up...)
Kubazz, very nice UV Map, the one I made don't fit so good, do you have some tricks to give for newbies like me?
Mills, I like your focal blur (and your whole scene), I tried to make this effect (in Artweaver and in ACDsee too, with my image render and the depht channel) but I cannot get it ??? I have to try again a next time and perhaps to use an other painting software!
For me, is it already TIME UP (going to the sea with my family tomorrow, on holliday is no computer allowed!), and here is my final render (with a few bad unexpected effects...).
I was very happy to join this challenge.
It has been usefull to get some practice in UV mapping, and painting UV map.
Thank you Floyd86 for this great theme.

New windows and a few details more (not yet correctly textured) and time, time, time...
Time is the veritable challenge!

Very nice, I like the most the first version, I can imagine it jumping on his leg like a bird, bong..bong...bong....
As says Mreenav D and Headwax, I cant wait to see how you will texture it.
(Will you add some "doors", stickers, bumpmap, energy indicator, "cooling holes", rust...?)
NB: for the "....", I cant find an english word that fit, I hope you will understand!

Good start all, especially Kreator and Drewi, how can you make this in 1 week?
Here is what I am working on. After a few hours of work, there are still a lot of problems, I hope to find time to fix some of them, add more details and create a small scene but I'm not sure to can...(I have to paint the house!)
Good luck everybody, and have fun.

Will you join it? If yes, I give up for this challenge (Just joking ;), I hope to see your work there)

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Re: Trying to "FLY"
« on: July 29, 2009, 06:25:15 pm »
Thank you for the comments, they are always welcome!
Here is a new render (not yet the final)
I added hairs on the legs and made a better diffuse UV Map.
Some hairs are looking a little artificial, but the idea of Headwax was cool, it makes a BEUUURK :-X effect.
I must now rework the wings on the map and make better bump an reflection map.
I think my next render will be the final (for this time).
For this render, i'll try to put this fly in a cool place (not pinned down in a box)

Beautiful jobs everybody, difficult to make a choice for voting! :D
I give a special mention to Headwax, as always, it has, I know what but I dont know how to say that in English... ???
I have a litlle time the next weeks, if it comes soon, I'll join the next Challenge. I'm certain it will have a great theme!

Hey, I am back after a long time without modeling (a lot of work...), just having time to take a look to your nice works (and challenges, I have plan to take part to one!).
Here is a preview of my new try to "Fly", exploring new ways for texturing.
Modeling in anim8or, UV Mapping in Lithunwrap, some texture to put in the UV Map rendered in Anim8or, other painted in Artweaver, Wings out a picture and final render in Anim8or.
I think I have now to make my UV Map better and, as Headwax says, make hairy legs, but I am already happy with this new step in learning 3d.

Very nice,
I believe, if you put it in a picture, i cant see it's not real!
And thank you for explanations about the materials, it can certainly be usefull for everybody.

Hey,
Yes, this poor fly is pinned down!
Thank you for your positiv criticism and your ideas...
I tryed to give it a better material and new wings. I think it seems now a little better but it is not yet what i want.
But for now, it is enough (later, I'll certainly learn more about "Fly anotomy", model it again and try to give it super cool texture to make a almost realistic fly).
Has anybody else 3d insect pictures to show?

My new project is one more time anything with wings but not a plane.

Thank you.
