Hi all,

I've done quite a lot modeling now and wanted to get some info in making models "live" :)
Do I have to split the model into parts for each bone?

Hi all,

I am trying to make 3d text with custom font. Fisrt I tried to write text in paint and use is as a height map in Terrainim8or, but if I set high division settings I get loads of points (loads of work to simplify object), if I set low division settings I lose font details (loads of work dividing and fixing obj).
Maybe anyone knows better solution before I start the hardwork ???

i was just wondering is it possible to get involved in the Anim8or development anyhow ;) I am not a hell of a programmer, but would be happy to write a few methods on my spare time ::)

While we were discuising some subdivision stuff in one of the threads, I played a bit with smooth and subdivided object and found it very (no, I mean very very) usefull. Since it's just a basic shape (not very detailed), I didn't put much effort making it.

I bumped in to a wall for a while while modeling, but I found edge properties to be a solution.
So, I opened a new "playground" project and I can't make edge properties work like shown here:

I can crease the sphere, but I am unable to round the cube corners ;(


Hi all,

I am quite a newbie to the animation stuff. I am modeling this animation sceen for bout a week now. It is quite the rougth at the moment..
Anyway, I am at the modeling stage and I was wondering what makes animation realistic. Should I add loads of details to the objects or just good quality maps/textures to make it realistic?

To get you on the way of the idea, I plan to add more detail to both houses (to extude the wooden parts in the wall, like on the right part of the right building; add some more detais to the roof; etc..).. hope you understand what I am saying.. oh my english ;)

Would be great to have "Apply" button on forms. Functionality could be same as "ok", but no window closure.
Say I like to rotate object a few times. I select obj, Edit->Rotate->Rotate Custom.. enter params, hit "Apply"..
obj rotates, but thats not what I whant. Since Rotation dialog is still on the screen, I can simply enter new params
and rotate again.


Hi all,

I've been working on my model recently and noticed that it would be very usefull to line up points.
I've coded very simple script for that, whitch has lack of functionality. I mean, at the moment it recognizes
all the selected points and lines it to a mesh coord center in Y axis - (0.0, Y, 0.0).

I would like to add some functionality and user interface:

- User can choose to which axis points should be lined;
- User can choose wheater line to a mesh center, rand point coords or coords specified;
- User can ajust X, Y and Z for point lining (of course one of those would be ignored depending on axis chosen);

Thing is I can't find the way to add user interface. I mean it's not a "Parametric Mesh Plug-in" script, so there is nothing
to return in this case.

Hi all,

I've been working on the house project. I got stuck with this artifact and I dont know how to solve it..

Take a look at pics. I'll try to explain it step by step:

1. I used a roof object (which is basicly a simple prism);
2. I've subdivided one face a few times and extuded it a bit;
3. I've extruded the botom face..
4. ..merged a poly and joined side edges;
5. I've extruded a face inside the object..
6. ..and deleted the unnececary points (some edges and side faces vanished at this point),
7. so I drew missing edges, filled holes and got this nasty artifact (actually two  :-[ )..

My gues is that when (at point 6) I deleted bottom corner points, top corner points (check out pic 8) decided to leave some relation (or whatever) with the extruded points ? Hmm.. Sounds crappy.  ::) Is that what happened ???

I also included a8s file. Just fill hole and you see what happens..

Please help.  :-\

Hi all,

I'm very happy that I found this brilliant software by accident. ;)
It's very usefull, simple and quite powerfull.

I found the basics of syntax very simple, so I wrote this small script (called advanced, because it's a bit better than plane_plugin  ::)).
Now, you can draw a plane and divide it to as many segments as you like (it's a bit lie, but anyway :D )
BTW, comments in spring_pugin_1.a8s are helped alot, thanks. ;)

ASL Scripts / plugicon issue

When I tried to run it, I got "This application has failed to start because jper62.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem.".
Anyway, I found it on the web and placed in the same dir as *.exe and app lounched, but whenever I load *.png or *.jpg 'Convert' button doesnt get enabled.
*.bmp works fine ;)

And please add the line for the dimension requirements in readme.txt, it may save some time for someone ;)

EDIT: for the *.bmp I get unexpected result (picture seems to be a bit streched, edges cut).

General Anim8or Forum / Newbie problem

I have been playing around with this nice app and experienced some problems.
I have two objects. They've been converted to meshes. I'm not sure what I did, but now I cant move a selected vetex (if I do it by double click & enter values, it works fine, not with mouse). And yes I'm in wireframe view. Strange that it happens just with one of the ojb.

Can anyone pzl help  :(


Btw. Seems that I am unable to select edges and faces of that obj (with 'select', 'drag select' works fine). :(


One more thing. I'm not able to fill holes on that obj. Selected edges colors are green and red.. :(


Ok. I was playing with new obj and I think this behaviour occured when I grouped obj with itself. Anyway, ungroup doesn't solve the ploblem. :(

I am very new to Anim8tor and of course I've got the question. ;)
I am trying to make the simple plane with lots of length and width segments.
I was trying to make the 4 corner N-gon and extrude the line (thats the only way I could think of ;), but I was unable to select it. I am sure it's obvious to anyone who's using this nice app for more than a few days ;)
One more question.. Is there a way to set the segments before creating a new object?

Could anyone plz help me ;)
