General Anim8or Forum / Basic walk sequence video tutorial.
« on: February 09, 2009, 06:33:59 pm »
Hello.
If you're wanting to get your character walking, this video may be of some help.

 Some notes:
-walking has a pattern. The pattern can be easilly established in a walk 'sequence'
ie:     start - right leg fwd, left arm fwd, right arm back.
middle - left leg fwd, right arm fwd, left arm back
end - right leg fwd, left arm fwd, right arm back.*
(*exactly the same as the start. copy first frame, paste to last frame)

There are 2 main 'mid-transition' frames, located half way before the middle frame, and again halfway after the middle frame.

On a line it would look like this.

Start pose ---- mid transition pose ---- middle pose  ----- mid transition pose ---- End pose.

The end pose is identical to the start pose. (copy first frame, paste to last frame)
The middle pose is the reverse of the start and end poses.
The mid-transition poses have an easy formula to complete the sequence.
(front leg down, back leg up), as shown in the video.

The video deals with arms, legs and 'lift'.
Once you have a clear understanding of the 'Pattern', then it becomes easy to add other movements. Neck, Spine, hands etc

 Anyway, enough of the blabber.
 I hope you enjoy.
  Heres the Link.  :)

General Anim8or Forum / Re: how to find morph targets in the scene editor
« on: January 26, 2009, 02:07:04 am »
Sometimes, moreso with figures, the morph targets don't show straight away.
Another way of bringing them into scene mode is by adding the 'object' to scene mode, then deleting it straight away. (edit-delete elements).

ie: the object ,which contains the morph targets, and which you originally added to your figure.  ;)

kreator. Hello to you too. :) Kiwiland is pretty much as it was last year, except we have a new Prime minister.
No noticable changes yet, except that things are getting pretty darn expensive.
Good to see you still around. Will talk another time. :)

Hey, hey, hiho! :) thanks for the gidday. You too. :D

ENSONIQ5. I saw 'eraserman'. Absoloutely cool. Awesomely well done. Keep up the good stuff. :)

VBSmiles. And welcome back to you too. :). Anim8or is coming along nicely. Steve is doing some awesome stuff with it. I notice things like scroll bar, and able to export sequences!!. (Nice stuff Steve! :) )  I always like to see what type of effects you're coming up with in anim8or. Its something i don't really play with a lot.

Thanks for the welcome back guys.

I was wondering. Has anybody made a 'walk' tutorial while i've been away. ?

Was thinking about having a go at making one.
It really sucks not having the internet at home.
Time, (money), runs out so quick at the internet cafe. I haven't really been able to hav a good look around yet, and meaning to check out Anim-Anon as well. (and cg nation).

 But, will do, just a.s.a.p.

 Till l8er
talk with you then. :)

General Anim8or Forum / Hello and some old Tuts
« on: January 02, 2009, 09:02:33 pm »
Hello fellow anim8ors. , and best wishes to all for a happy 2009. :)
I've been away from here for quite a while now, the only reason being that i don't have an internet connection at home. I did try to keep involved with the .an8 forums, but it just became too difficult to remain as an active member of the anim8or community.
Anyway, i still don't have an internet connection, but have made a new years resoloution to get back here at least 2 or 3 times a week. (internet cafe).
I'm interested in helping out as best i can, but ask that you remember my internet situation, and understand that any replies from me may not be 'instant'.
My thoughts on Anim8or are these. "It rocks!, it rocks!, it rocks!" :)
If you're a newbie, stick at it. If you're not a newbie, then you are already sticking at it, and thats cool to see.
I know some of you, (hello friends!), and hope to get to know some more of you over time.
While cleaning up an old hard-drive recently, i found a couple of old video-tutorials which i made back in 2005. (anim8or v0.95).
They may be helpfull, or they may not be, but i've uploaded them onto youtube and have supplied the links below.

This one is an introduction to morphing:

And this one is some basics on a bouncing ball:

My latest short video is a music clip, and i'll post the link in 'finished works/works in progress' forum.

  I'm out of time. :(
 Keep well, and keep focused.
 Goodbye for now.
