If you are using a reference image then you may have to move it back just a bit to let the points show through.

It is possible that the file of the model was designed to sort of "self destruct" and become unreadable if reformatted. I know some major game companies like to do stuff like that to prevent people from taking thier trademarked stuff.

Only 200 frames to go, I'm hoping it will be done over the weekend. I've been rendering for a week.

Every person's organization may be different, so you will have to experiment to see what works best for you.

For me, my file organization looks something like this

Animation
-Animator files
--Auto saves
--Plug-ins
--Manuals/tutorials
-Project files
--Organized by project
---.an8 files
---Textures
---Sound
---Anything else related to that particular project
-Renders
--Still renders
--Animation renders
--Work in progress renders
-Library
--Meshes
--Textures
--Sounds
--Etc.
-Reference Photos
--organized by topic such as: cars, planes, buildings, miscellaneous objects, etc.

I have an extensive file structure that allows me to find anything quickly. You may want something simpler or even more structured, but that depends on your working style. A simple structure may look something like this:

Main file
-.an8 files
-textures
-renders

Simple but not so simple that you can't find anything. Just find the file organization that fits you best. Have fun anim8ing.

I think I will try to finish rendering this beast now. It has been too long in the making to just let this sit here. But it will take me a very long time. I hope to see my room finished within the year.  :P

ASL Scripts / Mesh2mesh directions?
« on: June 03, 2010, 11:26:13 am »
Hello,

I've been trying to use the mesh2mesh_6_wnfitt_final script, but it has not been working and I cannot find any directions on how to use it. I've got the two objects named "source" and "target".

What about aquariums?

I'm fairly new myself but I've got a little trick that can help you with the cutting tool.

Just add a "new line" in point edit while the "Y" and "Z" buttons are disabled, this makes it so that your line will be moved in the "X" axis only. Once you have put the line in place where you want it select the cut faces tool, click on one of the vertices of the new line you just made and drag across to the new line until the box turns red. Release the mouse button and it will cut your mesh exactly where you wanted it to. You can also make the line at any angle and you can cut at an angle too.

I believe you used this helicopter or something like it, you will have a closer re-creation of the original if you model the same helicopter.

Well Aric, here's what we can do, I'll post the mesh here on the forum, and you find a label to put on it.

Same applies to anyone, if you find a label that fits this can, go ahead and post it here! Then you can have a can for any animation you choose.

Thanks for the compliment 3D Joe Wiltshire! It is way too high poly to put in the background of any scene, but if ever I make a scene that has a can in it I'll have this.

Neodelito, currently the specular is .4 and brilliance is 2. I'll see what amping up the specular does tomorrow.

Ask and you shall recieve!

Made it closer to aluminum.

The pop-top looks fairly bad, but from a distance you really can't tell. Sorry it doesn't look more shiny, that is my bad lighting.

Pretty simple; an aluminum drink can with inter-changeable labels, I've made a pepsi can label so far.

Edit: Added a Coke can label
