General Anim8or Forum / Multi views in object editor
« on: April 14, 2015, 10:47:11 pm »
Alright, so I've NEVER been able to figure out a surefire, failure-free way to set up two views (like left and front, for example) in two different cameras. It seems hit-and-miss to select a view of the two, go to the left view, and then go back to two views... only SOMEtimes does it change the view.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there a particular way to do this properly?

So I was messing around with some morphs today and I put my model in the scene editor. I found that when I use ANY of the camera 'movement' tools (while looking thru the camera), one of my morphs was sort of following the value of the zoom.

Basically it's an 'eyes cracked open' morph set to a value of 1, and when I move. zoom, or reorient the camera (while looking thru it), the morph seems to grow as I move more and more. It's really eerie.

So I just did these yesterday and today. I don't have much in mind but I don't want to lose any skills I've built since I started!
Comment and crits well received :)

General Anim8or Forum / Spinning bones?
« on: December 22, 2014, 09:33:41 am »
Hey, everyone! I've been working on a new short animation project in the WIPs forum. But I've come to a problem (in fact, the same one that causes me to rip my hair out, rage quit and not come back to Anim8or for a year... every time)
Basically I've noticed that in the sequence or scene mode when editing key frames, if a value change slightly, a lot of times Anim8or will automatically interpolate this data and assume the entire bones is supposed to spin over 360 degrees to it's new position. Also there's the weird little preparation it does right before it goes to a keyframe, like it move in the opposite direction for just a second...
This is NEVER, EEEVER what I have ever wanted in an animation, and it has only served as a detriment to my continuation and mental health, and pretty much has usually been the reason I stopped using Anim8or repeatedly. I don't really want that to happen again.

is there a solution?!? I will be able to continue working in this software if there is SOME solution to this huge keyframe issue(that doesn't involve copying/pasting keyframes on every frame)!!

So following the start of my graphics class at school, I'm back in the swing of animation.. this go around, i wanted to try an animated short. I have a script and storyboard all out, plus I did sketches for the two featured characters, and finally modeled and rigged them. The pics are attached... tell me what you guys think so far!

(of course I'm keeping the story a bit vague at the moment... animation tests next!)

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Mouth morphs test
« on: August 05, 2013, 07:22:36 pm »
So I put this together over 2 days a couple days ago. Sadly, I broke the file before I could do all the cool stuff I had planned (you can see in the very beginning, the character turns his torso and his eyes have just a couple of microsaccades and a lot of blinking and eyelid motion throughout). In any case, I'll certainly finish it (and clean up the bad morphs) if I get the file fixed.

Like I said, I only made it through the complete mouth morph and all the blinking before I (on my own terms) accidently broke the file. Tell me what you think!

Here is the latest of my work. It's a WIP, I'm going to change up the scene composition a bit in the future.

It's actually a test for another project I'm working on for the farther-off future. I created a 3d panoramic image with a $0.99 app on my iPod touch sitting on a tripod with a mount; the wonder's of free and incredibly cheap stuff!
More info about my process soon. Of course this isn't perfect, there's quite a bit of work to do (re-do).
I mean, what, you actually thought the robot was THAT tall?

General Anim8or Forum / So to be honest...
« on: July 25, 2013, 09:59:05 pm »
I cannot get back into animation! I was a VFX freak, but I got sick of making stupid 'gun videos' of me running around the house shooting myself with terrible FX, scripting, acting, etc. I wanted something more, but I didn't have the time or brains to learn animation AND compositing in a close enough time to run a YouTube channel. I've been using Anim8or for a long, long time (to me, at least), and sadly, I have to say that my drive for animation in any capacity is gone.
If anyone wants to collaborate, DO message me here, I'll still be around and commenting, heck, I may even model some stuff every once-in-a-while. Thanks, guys.

P.S. YES I am looking for collabs, I do music mainly now.

General Anim8or Forum / "add all keys"??
« on: February 19, 2013, 11:02:31 am »
Hey, everyone! Right now, I'm working on a game, and I'm in a situation where I think things can be a bit more efficient; I want to be able to add all of the keys to my bones at once, forsaking the need to set each bone manually. Is there any automatic, or quick-and-easy way to do this?

Thanks!

General Anim8or Forum / Teach Me FUR!!!
« on: December 17, 2012, 11:42:26 am »
Hey, everyone! I'm working on a pretty complex character model for an upcoming animation (hopefully next October is the release). He a big furry guy, and I need help learning methods for 'furring'.
I have seen the alpha mapping method, but I have never figured out how to get the maps wrapped around my character in a convincing way. Could anyone help?

ASL Scripts / Where is MIRROR ALL?
« on: October 01, 2012, 09:59:29 pm »
Hey, everyone. Today I started cipping away on these cool shades below. However, I'm using essentially all subdivisions, and don't really have the patience to convert everything to meshes individually, mirror individually, then resubd.
(yet I somehow have the patience to wait 24hrs from a reply from some guy on the internet.)
Where can I find the mirror all script? I'm actually fine with it if it only works for meshes- as long as I don't have to do each individual piece, piece-by-piece. Thanks!

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Wiggle Cam Expression???
« on: September 30, 2012, 09:52:56 pm »
Hey, everyone. I'm working on a cool new car-themed project in which I'll need a shaky camera. I just don't want to do it in post because I want to retain depth and what-not. So, is there an expression out there that will let me achieve a shaking camera?

Preferably something like an earthquake, or maybe even just a slightly randomized wiggle that I can modiy the properties off?

Thanks, everyone!

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Centura - The Car of the Future
« on: September 30, 2012, 08:23:33 pm »
So, a loooong while back (months ago, probably), I began the basic modelling of this strange futuristic sportscar. It IS of course, a hovercraft (how's the future without 'em?). I tossed up a quickie render in ART, no AA just to show what we're essentially looking at at the moment.
In the final, it'll be a video advert (seiously this time, not the lie I told on my last project) depicting some sweet footage of this thing ripping through a tunnel. Have a look below at what I've got so far.
(also, sorry for the bad quality- didn't know Anim8or had pretty bad native .jpg output quality)

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Speakers Design
« on: September 29, 2012, 12:14:32 pm »
I'm working on modelling a realistic desktop environment. You can see I used ART for reflections. I'm neglecting shadows at the moment until I'm done with primary modelling. i'll later turn it into an advertisment for the speakers, with shallow DOF and the like of professional quality and photorealism. Tell me how it's looking (both model- and render-wise) so far!
