Got some better ref pics and basically reworked him from the ground up. I know he still needs work around the mouth, cheeks, and chin area. I'm including one of my ref pics. Here is my updated images for today.

Guess if I never do organic, I'll never get better. Just don't laugh too loud please.

You can also change the projection from planar, to cylindrical, spherical, and spherical reflection. With the UV tool on, double click on your model. Btw, the UV arc tool works the same as the Arc Rotate tool. Hope this helps you out.

The bust must be of a popular organic fictional or non-fictional character.

How exactly would you define organic? I have tried organic a number of times but find I am much better at inorganic. I'm just wondering if there is a happy middle where I look at it and say "inorganic" and you look at it and say "organic".

I appreciate the input folks. I guess I'll keep messing with it and see if I can get some better results.

I have been kinda asked, kinda volunteered, to make a project for a web comic called S.S.D.D, but I'm a bit... crestfallen? I was asked to make the "TGM". It's a black whole drive of a ship. The ref art are the following: WARNING: some foul language

I created this video and sent the artist a copy.
He says it seems "Pretty cool for a rough." I thought I was done. Does anyone have any idea what more I could do?

You get into a few problems. If you put a light in the sabre, then you can't have any part of that object cast shadows or it won't look right. It is possible to use object parenting in scene mode to handle this problem. Something like this:

Create an object that is just the handle, have it cast shadows normally. Create a different object for the blade, no shadows, cast or receive. Make it the child of the handle. Make a local light, same color as the blade, it casts shadows, low intensity, child of the handle or blade.

Hope this helps out.

Awesome work here. Nice clean modeling. No stretching on the materials. Looks like a professional job right out of a video game.

I'm in a bit of a bind. Does anyone know a realistic material setting for gold in ART? I've tried the "material database" but that one is not what I'm looking for.

I remember hearing that since attributes have been added that 2 sided textures no longer work right.

Nice animation there, I like the background and the background sound effects, very nice.

Only 2 crits, the *Clang* sound effects are a little unrealistic compared to the otherrs in the video, and the "Sluggy Freelance" font and font colour look a bit out of place, a bit too comical if you know what I mean.

Other than that, Nice work!

To which *clangs* are you refering? The ones where the 4 "U" shapes are assembling was not quite the sound I was looking for, but the best I could find. The "Sluggy Freelance" I got basically straight off the site, as well as the "bROKEN"

The sound effects are very bad, but the modelling, and animation, and the design are great. I'm a bit surprised that you stuck with the same shape, when you could have used many different shapes to do the same thing. Something like that would make a good intro for the Space game that I am making.

I'm sorry you don't like the sounds, but I'm still pretty new to putting sounds in my vids. I stuck to the shape because making that shape was the whole point.

I read an online comic called Sluggy Freelance. On Saturday (22nd) they featured a logo that got me going. The original art is http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/20090822 and http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/20090821 (on the shoulder on the REA-5)

I posted my vid on you tube:

C&C is appreciated as always.

I'm kinda partial to an old sci-fi series called "Space: Above and Beyond" I loved the way they showed their battles.

whats that about ? :O

Space Marines fighting an unknown alien race known as the "chiggers" You never (with only 2 exceptions) see what a chigger looks like outside their environmental suits.
