Well well well. Look at that. ... Almost there.

Just to indulge in some temporary personal curiosity.

Linux Mint 18.1 "Serena"

+ (An8 Sys: OpenGl 1.4 Mesa 11.2.0)
++ (Startup, +mode switch:Object+Figure+Sequence+Scene+Browser, Quit)
  • Anim8or_95C.exe - seems okay
  • Anim8or_98A.exe - seems okay
  • Anim8or_v1.0beta.exe - seems okay
  • Anim8or_v1.0beta2.exe - seems okay

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Re: Biiig problem png textures

neodelito: Looking at your post I don't see anything that directly points to a specific Anim8or problem here. Those first two images don't look like there coming from Anim8or, supporting the conclusion is not a Anim8or related problem. (I did try to see if I could find something, but whiteout result.)

Options:
- Add more info that show it is a Anim8or issue.
- Request this topic to be moved to the general forum. Which might draw in more help to your problem. (And if it turns out there is a specific Animator problem, you can just submit what was found at that point.)

Mmm, nevermind. Seems I did something wrong ... again.

"can't register file extension"
Just some general information on this windows message.
This is probably a general Window-rights/protection thing. (Vista, and up I guess)

Anim8or checks its own register "Version" key to see if it need to update the general/default "Run an8 with ..." register settings. Its probably that second part that triggers that message.

(Can also be triggered when Anim8or is started in a Admin-type user account. Only using "Run as Admin" seems to not trigger this message.)

I don't think in general that this data is of much use.
But here is the windows logbook data.
(Highlighted the error specific parts.)

Google Translated from NL(Dutch):

[Win XP]

[Win Vista]

(Vista: No crash, but no maximized window on start-up either.)
Oops.
After re-testing this one on 1140, I realized that on the Vista computer I did not have the "Save Window Location" active.

After activating the "Save Window Location" setting, Vista has the same behavior as with XP for maximized windows.

you can still accidentally delete geometry in hidden and locked layers.
Any additional specifics about this might be a bit more helpful.

Some align view to face(normal) ability. (?)

8
the only way to fix it is to go into the registry and set WindowMaximized to 0
(Just start & close a older Anim8or version, that will do the trick to. ... ? ... WIP code.)

Nice new(1139) Modifier (with bound item) handling when using 'Convert to Mesh' and 'Convert to Mirrored'.

Smirkyguy: I think I finally figured out how to make maximized windows work correctly.  It'll be in the next build.
XP & Vista: Anim8or(1140) crashes on start-up with Reg:WindowMaximized=1.
(when "Save Window Location" is also active.)
(Vista: No crash, but no maximized window on start-up either.)

traceinit(XP & Vista)
Code: [Select]
begin: InitInstance()
       creating main window.

Ongoing Anim8or Development / Re: Big Changes to Point Edit Tools

I personally kinda question the general wisdom of those "deselect all on empty space click"  points of view.

Deselection a (small or potential big) active selection by accident is not something that you would like to happen to easily. Clicking in empty space with the mouse, while editing a selection with the mouse, seems a not to uncommon possible mishap.
(Deselecting all with SPACE, and only with SPACE. Has a lot less change of being used accidentally.)

Also, To me, using different mouse buttons for different selection actions seem a bit of a wast of mouse button use. When using the selection status of the clicked item to add or remove is to or from the current section ... would only require one mouse button, leaving the others mouse buttons for potential other functions. (+having a strong memorable difference between the usage of the different mouse buttons seems to me a good thing to.)

Just my 2 cent thoughts on this.

[-] Figure,Bone,NameChange,Crash(Scene).

I think this issue might be related to this one. (Different initial version)

Changing the name on a bone that has, 1) a linked-object attached to it that, 2) has skinning enabled. Triggers a crash at this point when, 1) viewing a scene with that figure, or 2) adding that figure to a scene.

- As of version(built): (<=) 0.9.5.0.
- OS: XP & Vista.

[steps]
- ObjectMode: Create some solid. (object01)
- FigureMode: Add bone01, Add object01 to bone01. (figure01)
- Enable skinning. (skinning toolbar button)(any skinning mode)
- SceneMode: Add figure01. (scene01)
- (save/load)
- FigureMode: change name on bone01 + OK.
- Switch to scene mode (scene01).
