Hi Jesse... I remember seeing your name while browsing the gallery, when I was still a newbie! I think it still was v0.85... aah, good ol' times...
Nice game by the way.

No, no, don't call it awful. An attempt is always a good attempt.
The main difference between the drawing and your model is that the drawing has sharper corners at certain points, namely, the nose, the tips of the feet, the corners and the middle of the tied ribbon behind her head, the chin, the end of the neck, err, the lower end of the breast, the back end of the shoes, the hands (if you plan to make the fingers you'll need to make them flat & square), the ears and maybe some more.
If I'm guessing right, you have converted the mesh to a subdivision, and in this case, the approach is totally different from the standard mesh case. You can always revert from subdivision back to mesh (by lowering the detail to 1 and converting to mesh), but, since subdivisions look nicer (personal opinion :P) you may want to stick with them. If so, when adding sharp corners to your model, keep in mind that subdivisions tend to make sharper corners near the areas that points are close to each other. I hope this will help enough.
Please surprise me with an update. :)

It looks pretty sharp :)
It's practically complete and it's well-done, so I got nothing too specific as a suggestion. If your game engine supports bump maps / parallax mapping, you can draw some nice 'engravings' for the handle, as a decoration. You know, a wild animal, or the maker's or the clan's sign or whatever. I wouldn't suggest modeling the engravings (i.e. with Boolean subtraction script etc.) because it would make the model high poly. Except if you're making a high-end game of course.

So brilliant! Please show us more!

to help new users to anim8or
Fair enough. I remember having problem as a newbie with tuts where the instructor constantly pressed crazy key combos and super hidden secret keys. Especially with Blender tuts... combos keys combos :/

All are on anim8orworld
Woah! How did I miss this? What a nice place! I registered and liked the fb page too. Thanks for telling me!

Thank you anim8orworld for the nice tutorial! Please upload the rest of it too!

Funny though you avoid using tools like stand on origin and axis locking :)

Why start a flame war? :)
The reason for us making various thoughts is that we basically don't hear from him often... we don't have any news from him, that's why we are quite worried.
But hey, don't worry.  I use to check his profile once or twice a month: "Steve, administrator. Last active: Yesterday at 07:39:11 am." He looks at least just a little bit interested to me ;) Believe me, I am a developer myself, and I have felt lots of times the need to cease development for an indefinite period of time. Awful feeling for sure. But when I care about a project, I never forget it: "Hmm, I have to take a look at X". When I don't really care about one, I completely forget about it [as many times has happened :( see 'supertux3d' for an example - I'm so sorry for dumping you sik0fewl :'(]. If I can somehow warm up your morale, that's what I know: He still cares, and he won't ever forget.

Oh my... what the... what is going on here?!?
Man you just made my day! I am an anim8or member from 2004 (?). I was watching the progress of cre8or day by day, hoping that something great will emerge... can you imagine my disappointment when I saw cre8or, then Polly, and finally anim8or ceasing development? So much time... It was enough for me to learn C++, OpenGL, linear 3D algebra!
And after those years, I finally realize that something, someone is still alive (or undead? :P) and working! Believe me, I want this to work.
If only I could be of any help... however I will be making a 3D elementary game till Christmas, so I will be 100% busy till then. But I really wish that after that I will be here, watching the progress, giving any possible support.
Please make this happen :) Ah, now that I know there is still hope I'm not leaving that easily! I'll be around until then.
Very happy to hear from all of you people.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Looping sequence in Vista
« on: March 14, 2009, 04:37:11 am »
Hi. I ticked "loop sequence" in the options menu and played the seq, but after a while the window froze and vista killed the program. can it be fixed in next version? (multithreading, probably). thanks in advance.

I agree with floyd32. But since it is now a mesh, you can use the non-uniform scale tool (the button with a box that has two arrows inside) to alter the X Y Z size. Fiddle with it and you'll understand it is very powerful.

Try downloading version 0.97d from here: http://www.anim8or.com/download/preview/index.html
It has a lot less bugs. It's more stable than 0.95, I hope your problem will be solved.

anim8or is pretty stable software
Well this depends on many things. There are many betas, and the final "magic 1.0 version" is not out yet. Version 0.95 is quite buggy (personal experience :) ) and version 0.97d beta is a... beta. nightwolf: what is your version?
