The only thing I use Sculptris for is asteroids. It's pretty good for that.

You're not just going to need the Milky Way, you'll also need some satellite galaxies like the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds. I could probably help, but it would need at least four sequences. And that could take a while. If you need it soon, Celestia may be helpful. http://shatters.net/celestia/

Here, this should help. Put a point light inside a sphere with this material and put both wherever you need a glowing light. :)
